great ski lodge to accommodate a large group

5 of 5
We were 3 families, (7 adults and 6 children aged 9-11 years old), looking to share a chalet for skiing in Cortina over the Easter break. Such large accommodation proved too difficult to find in Cortina itself but then we found Villa Alma, 25mins down in the valley in Venas di Cadore! This is the perfect place to stay with families. It is a historical home with so many interesting rooms and attics, lots for children to explore but not too delicate that they would easily damage anything. We had a wonderful time, alternating cooking feasts in around the long dining table, after a long day's skiing, to eating out in the same village at Bruno's superb pizzeria to restaurants in neighbouring villages and of course in Cortina itself. We were all enamoured by the beauty of the Dolomites and will definitely be back, next time to hike the mountains in the summer months. Julia was extremely helpful and responsive with information and generously left us a welcome food bundle on arrival, which was very kind of her and absolutely delicious! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely house and a great holiday!

5 of 5
We had a great 7 days staying at La Dolce Vita. Angela was a great host, she met us on our first night and was very welcoming (a delicious Easter panettone awaited us). The house was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and perfect for us, and our two children aged 5 & 7. My daughter did not want to go home after the week, and could not understand why we could not stay forever. The Lido is a great place to stay with a family, the beach was a very short walk from the house, we stayed at Easter so it was quiet and warm. The other (often much busier) islands of Venice are only short trip away by boat. We travelled around a lot in the day but it was lovely to get back to Lido each evening, and sit in the wonderfully secluded garden.

Enjoy a piece of traditional Italy at Villa Mila.

5 of 5
What a wonderful villa. We had our concerns about whether this deal was too good to be true, but after staying a week at villa Mila, our party of 16 Americans and Italians were absolutely pleased. The villa is rustic enough to be different then a tourist hotel but is still comfortable, spacious, and clean. In short, this villa remains a piece of historic Italy that should not be missed. The villa itself offered LARGE rooms with painted ceilings( Frescos) and ample bathrooms for the lot. The group that travelled with us was...picky...but thoroughly enjoyed the villa since it offered great accommodations and the chance to connect with family. The grounds were breathtaking...the 2 friendly cats, Pino the dog, the pool, the ancient buildings on site....wow! . In addition, after reading the previous reviews about Mirella the caretaker, she had a lot to live up to. She surely did and was always available to offer the whole group advice as to where to eat, wineries, and everything else about the area. One more thing, we vacationed with other Italians from Northern Italy and they were also very much impressed with the villa and the hospitality of Mirella and the owners. This place made our vacation! Don't hesitate....call now to try to reserve a week or two because me and all of my friends will be calling soon to reserve another spot. What an amazing experience that will not be forgotten! Thank you to Mirella, Count San Bonifacio, the hospitable town of Villa Bartolomea and to the Internet for making this possible.
