A peaceful and comfortable holiday

5 of 5
Planning this trip was very straightforward, the house owners are prompt and responsive and they seem concerned to ensure that we had a good stay; booking and paying was a straightforward process. We received a welcome booklet for the property before our holiday, this was usseful in planning activities for the holiday. We were sent the key before we left and very clear instructions enabling us to find the property effortlessly, (something that we are usually hopeless at). We arrived at the property at about 3.30 on a glorious August afternoon. We had seen the pictures but they did not prepare us for what a lovely house this is. It really felt idyllic, sensitivity planted with lavender, figs and peaches. The house has many lovely rooms, well furnished with comfortable and pleasing furniture. And there is loads of room, there were only 4 of us so we never went up to the top floor. The house was well stocked with games and activities, including a full sized table tennis table. Everyone was very pleased with their rooms. The kitchen worked well, but was the only place that we could find a socket to charge our phones and laptops so those sockets were busy. There was good wifi coverage. There are many books, many DVDS, games and 2 bikes. The swimming pool is large and in a beautiful location, a really tranquil place to relax I strongly recommend this farmhouse and I hope at some point in the future to go back again, with a few more people.

We have made several visits to Monterchi, staying at Montemiliano twice. On this, our latest visit, we were recommended to stay in the Sun Apartment of Rughino. As before, we were NOT disappointed. The area is so tranquil and calm and the views across the valley to Monterchi and beyond are breathtaking - especially in the evening. We found the apartment clean and well maintained, although we would have been happier with more hanging space in the bedrooms, especially with 2 young grand daughters. We were delighted with the pool and pool area, so welcoming on the many hot days and our grand daughters were particularly glad of it. There is also a small play area on the road into Monterchi. The owners, Lucia and Gaziano, have the ability to treat visitors more like old friends than customers and we would have no hesitation in recommending the property to friends or relatives. Monterchi is an easy 2 hour drive from Pisa. With 2 young grand daughters, we tried to keep our travelling to a minimum, especially in the hot part of the day, but we managed to visit plenty of places in the area including, Sienna, Lucignano, Cortona, Sansepolcro, Citta di Castello and Anghiari. We tried to balance our dining with visits to several local restaurants and some dining at the apartment including a barbecue one evening. We have promised ourselves that when we next visit, hopefully in 2013, we will make more use of the barbeue. In our view, La Pieve Vecchia, a restaurant less than 10 minutes drive away, gave excellent value for money and the service was very friendly and efficient. There is also a Pizzeria on the road out toward Arezzo which is basic but again good value for money. There are several markets in nearby towns which are always good to visit if only for the friendly atmosphere. In conclusion, Italy is the country we would visit again and again, but Toscana and Umbria really have our vote. Our daughter and 2 grand daughters have fallen in love with Monterchi and we can not wait to take tham back next year. We very much hope to renew our acquaintance with Monterchi and Lucia and Graziano as often as possible. With best regards, Sheila, David, Clare, Leah and Amber.

A beautiful and peaceful location

I cannot praise Il Mulino enough. Paul and Sofia the owners have created a truly beautiful property in a peaceful area of Tuscany. The fenced off pool and enclosed extensive grounds are ideal for young children to play safely. My daughter (aged 4) loved feeding the chickens and collecting eggs for our breakfast every day along with fresh veg and fruit from the allotment. She had plenty of space to run around and play ball, and she thoroughly enjoyed the swings and slide. The property itself was immaculate and clean with very good amenities and Gina the housekeeper even taught us how to make pasta! Paul and Sofia made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you so much for a very special holiday. We hope to return soon!
