peaceful and relaxing with great views

4 of 5
well finished, comfortable and spacious. great views and offers wonderful peace and tranquillity if you want to get away from it all. car essential, small shop in local village supplies basics and this is about 10 -15 mins walk away.you need to be organised with your groceries as the property is situated at the top of a long and windy road from the main town, so you don't want to forget anything!! the owner is lovely and on hand to sort any problems out, nothing is too much trouble, the property is clean, comfortable and well maintained and you are well looked after by the owner and her family. all the rooms are big and spacious with everything you need. although the pool is small and the poolside compact it has been finished well and provided enough room for our 3 teenagers and 10 year old to have lots of fun!!

great place, wonderful people!

5 of 5
We were a party of 7: my parents (above 70 and beginning to be frail), my sister, my husband and my son (9 years) and my daughter (3years). We had a warm welcome by our hostess Alessia and her mother, with a wonderful cake. My son has celiac disease and they helped us find restaurants, and gave us useful tips where to fnd the appropriate foodstores. The property is very charming, in the middle of a national park and has an incredible view on the mountain, which is especially lovely from the poolarea. There are a few accomodations and although all of them were booked, it did not seem crowded. You can get fresh bread and croissants every day to wake up to. The internet is confined to the loggia, which is charming by itself and offers enough space for everyone. It was a perfect holiday due to the wonderful, old but wel maintained typical property, but also due to the incredible friendliness, welcoming and warm way of the host family, especially Alessia and her mother. Would love to come again!

Fantastic views, well appointed, good location

5 of 5
I am not the type of person to sit around on a vacation; I like to explore. I booked this house due to the location: walking distance to town, between Pisa/Lucca/Florence, and would allow the ability to have a home base while exploring Northern Tuscany. We arrived at the house, and basically never left. We did take short day trips to Barge, Castelnuovo and Lucca, but the views from the house were so stunning, the pool so lovely, and the house was so comfortable that we never felt the need to leave. Elisabetta is a wonderful host who was very welcoming and informative. The property was super easy to rent, and Andrew (the property manager) was very accommodating and easy to work with for booking. Pros- VIEWS!!! Panoramic, and breathtaking. The house is a well restored farmhouse with many bathrooms and good places to both congregate or to escape your family. Good for small children, although not totally without worry. It is very easy and enticing to reach the pool, so with my 3 year old escape artist we had to keep a special watch. Also, the stairs are very steep with handrails that can one can easily fall through. The windows on the top floor have only a few bars across them and with the elevated bedroom floors I felt they were very a danger to tumble out of from the bedroom. The rooms on the top floor get very warm/stuffy and I had to keep the windows closed as my children are very small (3 and 5). I would recommend keeping them on the main floor so you can keep the windows open with no worry. Cons- Creepy crawlies!!!!!! It's nothing that you shouldn't expect in a farmhouse, especially one that is this old. Your windows are open all day/night, so of course there will be bugs. But after 7 wonderful days of sharing your accommodations with the creepy crawlies it does get to be overwhelming. Day 1 one of the children stepped on a bee in the grass on the way to the pool. We noticed the bees loved the grass in the hot sun- after it was covered by shade, no bees. There are also earwigs, centipedes, spiders, and my very, very, very least favorite- scorpions. Again, with small children, be aware and take steps to ensure you shake out clothing and shoes. It's nothing that you shouldn't expect in this climate and environment, but you do need to take some precautions. Did this negatively impact our stay? Not really. Would I go back? YES. I'd just bring a big can of bug spray! Around and about: Pieve F. is very close by and the local store is open unt
