"Villa la Quercia- a fine taste of Italian living"

5 of 5
A friend and her extended family vacationed here a few years ago with her new baby girl, and she recommended this beautiful place when I and another friend were planning to rent a villa in the Italian countryside. Even with her pictures and the website pictures visualized in our minds during the 2 years of planning our trip, we were pleasantly AMAZED when we arrived. I can still hear the gleeful "WOW"s exclaimed from my well traveled and discriminating cousin as she ran through the house when we first opened the door to the grand foyer. The sounds of the Italian tenors and classics resonated throughout the stone house like a concert hall and provided musical backdrop to sunbathing poolside swimming in the calmness of the salt water pool, and even out to the guest house, where we sipped wine on the balcony while watching shimmering lake views on the horizon beyond the expansive natural fields and vineyards. 2 of the master bedrooms in the main house also have balconies where we enjoyed our morning cappuccino sunrises. We felt truly "Italian" for a group of French Canadian and Jewish American ladies ages 50-85, and the meals prepared in the expansive and well appointed kitchen of this lovingly restored farm house provided many an evening of pure Italian delight! Dining under the grape canopy of the pergola, which was teeming with grapes which we made into jelly, provided outdoor conversation and connection, complete with wood fired outdoor pizza oven! And had we had even more wine to drink and were perhaps 20-40 years younger, we hay have enjoyed the enclosed trampoline on the front lawn. It was hard to leave our home base, but we did, because we were so well located to explore the many ancient walled cities and bike the countryside of Umbria and Tuscany, meet the local people who were so gracious and inviting, eat in their eateries, train to Florence and Rome to explore places previously only read about, and taste the wines at the many wineries during the harvesting of the grapes, Our villa was so welcoming to come home to after each day of adventure. Our villa owners are especially attentive to the needs and wants of their guests and in so many ways provide for a worry free and relaxing vacation experience. They truly have the gift of hospitality and have arranged for a team of local caretakers to maintain their beautiful property and tend to the needs of their guests. Thank you, Ken and Danica, for more than meeting our highest expectations.
