wonderful week - stunning views from the house

5 of 5
Four of us decided to go walking in Sicily and found this beautifully located house. The views were inspiring: Etna to the right, the sea to the left and surrounded by lemon groves. We were invited to pick our own lemons and oranges - a real treat. We travelled each day to various national parks for long walks - the house is well located near the motorway (10 mins) but is still very peaceful. There is plenty of space (4 bedrooms, 3 showers) although not really enough room to all sit comfortably by the (very welcome) fire. It was still chilly in the evenings when we were there but in the summer that would be no problem as there is loads of room on the terrace. The house offered everything we needed as an excellent base for our first visit to Sicily and the owners were helpful and friendly. We pre ordered a meal on the first night which was delicious.

Beautiful House, Great Atmosphere

5 of 5
This is a beautiful and well equipped house, which has lovely gardens and a large and very clean pool. Our plane was late in, so we phone Lilliana to let her know and she was waiting for us, with no problem at all. There were 9 of us in our 30s to 50 - 4 couples and a single, who had plenty of space in the house. The only problem we had was that the spiral staircase to one of the tower rooms is very steep and one person out of each couple was scared for heights. The view from the top was amazing, but it might be something to consider if you are a big group. Lilliana had left us a cake, milk in the fridge and some peeled prickly pears, which was lovely of her. She was very friendly, but did keep herself to herself. She came over to invite us to help them harvest olives though, which was great fun. Her English is good, but having one of our party speaking some Italian helped too. We spent a lot of time in the pool or sitting on the two beautifully shaded balconies. We went to the harbour for gelato one day, we had ok pizzas in the restaurant at the harbour La Conchiglia and very good take away pizzas from a place in Schillienti. The supermarket in Santa Teccla (about 4 minutes drive) is small, but good and open 8.30-13.30 and 4.30-8.30 Monday to Saturday and also Sunday morning. Whilst there's not loads in the immediate area, if you want a relaxing holiday with drives out to see things, it's prefect.

Great family holiday

4 of 5
A well presented house and pool with a truly great view of both the volcano and down to the sea. Was perfect for a relaxing family break.
