Great family holiday

5 of 5
We stayed for 10 nights and had a really great holiday. Our children, aged 4 and 1, loved the swimming pools and the grounds are very safe and secure. The villa is spacious and well appointed, by far the best standard of accommodation we have found in Greece. The beach is about 20 minutes walk away or 6 euros in a taxi. Turtle and plane spotting on the pedalos was fun. We ate out most evenings as there are plenty of good restaurants to choose from in Kalamaki, but the villa has a well equipped kitchen which was great for breakfast and lunch. The children absolutely loved the water park at Tsilivi and at the splash pool at Maralen Hotel. There's lots more to see and do so we're planning a return visit next summer.

Incredibly beautiful villa in peaceful location

5 of 5
My husband and I have just returned from Villa Simla, where we stayed for our honeymoon. We cannot praise this place highly enough and think it is massively underpriced! A massive thank you to Bob, the owner for a wonderful stay, and for putting up with my many questions and for answering my emails in super fast time. I think we had both expected Simla to be similar to the photos but maybe a little worn around the edges, but it isn't. In fact, I think the photos don't do the place justice! The stonework is beautifully rustic, in keeping with the surroundings and Greek tradition, and you can really tell that somebody has put a lot of thought into the decor. There is a lovely mix of traditional and new furnishings, making it a real home from home. Simla is located in a very peaceful, rural area, with just a couple of other villas nearby - the perfect place to unwind. Because of it's isolated location, a car is absolutely essential. After having spent a week in the busy, touristy Laganas, we found Simla a great place from which to explore the north of the island. We loved driving around the hills and villages, going on boat trips, visiting the shipwreck and eating at different tavernas. Giorgos, who looks after the villa for Bob, is a wonderfully warm person who just couldn't do enough for us! Thank you so much! Simla has everything you could possibly need - pots and pans, herbs, cutlery and crockery, CD player, DVD player, huge bag of games, BBQ, private pool, towels, air con in the bedrooms... The only slight negative might be that the wifi doesn't have a great range and will only allow one device to be connected at a time, but how about just switching it off for a while? Relax and enjoy the scenery! So basically, Simla is pretty perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful break. Neither of us have ever been so sad to see a holiday come to an end!

Maria's Villa

5 of 5
We could not have asked for a better villa, spacious, well equipped and quiet. Sitting at the back of the villa all you can see are the hills, the sea, and the sunset. The best part of the day was having an evening meal and watching the sunset in the sea; we actually ate in every night bar one because it was so stunning and peaceful. The almost infinity pool is situated at the side and back of the villa, it has a big area to sunbathe, relax, read and watch the swallows drink; swimming in the evening with the sun setting (as if it is next to you) is the best feeling! Before we came we were slightly concerned about having no air conditioning but because the walls are so thick it is always cool inside even after above 30 degree heat every day. You think you have discovered every nook and cranny but there is a secret path leading to a washing line and a walled amphitheatre behind a closed door! The cliffs are so steep it takes just under 15 minutes to get down to the sea; however, it is the best cove on the whole island! It is called Porto Sellinas and hardly anyone goes. You can swim through crystal blue water with great snorkelling; there is also a cave to swim through with an overhang that you can jump from! Thank you to Barbara and Makis for being very generous and helpful owners who gave great advice, we really enjoyed our holiday. Phoebe, 13.
