We're New Yorkers with a deeply ingrained appetite for the deluxe but an equal affection for adventure, beauty, and chill. Villa Annaniko fits all bills. It's a spectacular piece of architecture - gracious, modern and spare. It's views are breathtaking - a long sweep of hillside and blue sea in one direction; the stunning White Mountains in another. The property is gracious and lovely, inside and out. The interiors speak to a minimalist’s taste but are without question, elegant. The landscaping - lovingly cultivated but with a respectful nod to nature's whims - is simply inspired. Near enough to a host of stunning beaches but perched above the sea, there is much to do. Watch the skies, walk through ridiculously abundant lemon, orange, and olive groves, and laze around the pristine pools. Or better yet, do all that AND explore Western Crete's richness. If this is where you're headed, you already know how special this part of Greece is. Gorges, hikes, Minoan archeology, and ridiculously good food. But at Annaniko, you get a whole other layer of perfect. The property's host, manager, caretaker, gardener, and all around saint, Stelios Malekakis, is a true find. A font of information, a gentle presence (when and if you want him), and an extraordinary masseuse. A knowledgeable guide who elevates Villa Annaniko from wonderful to sublime. I can't recommend this paradise highly enough.
