Spring in Kalymnos

5 of 5
We arrived on the island the last week of March for a spring trip to the island. We were very happy with the house. Upon arriving we were greeted by house manager and given directions to the house. When we arrived we were shown around the property and had the amenities explained to us. The house is situated on the road to Emporios . It was the perfect location to explore the island yet have a peaceful location to return to. You should have a car to stay at the house which was not an issue for us. There was a nice beach across the road and down a hill. It was a nice walk to the beach. The house was just renovated to a 3 bedroom home and a sunroom was added. The new sunroom/living room was perfect for having our morning coffee in the sun. The sunroom also had huge windows that could slide open to let the morning air in. Overall we loved the house and are already planning our next trip back to the island Dale Canada

Absolutely gorgeous

5 of 5
Alba Lily is just lovely! The location is very good (although you really need a car to get about) and the village setting is charming. The house itself has tons of character and has been renovated to an incredibly high standard, with everything you need provided. Mark and Christine live next door and were brilliant - meeting us at the airport to show us the way to the house (despite a very late arrival) and organising sailing trips etc. Santorini is a very beautiful island with some stunning scenery. The beaches aren't its best feature because of its volvanic origins, so the sand is mostly black and quite coarse and stoney. Some of the smaller beaches have only a limited number of sunbeds/shades so if you arrive in the afternoon they will probably be all taken. But the bigger beaches (Perissa and Kamari - we preferrred Kamari but Perissa has the water sports) have hundreds of sunbeds as all the tavernas along the strip have their own patch of beach. So choose where you'd like to have lunch and then you can use the taverna's sunbeds. And you will need a sunbed - the sand gets incredibly hot! The sunset wine tasting at Santos Wines is well worth it (you can just have 'normal' drinks if you don't want to do the whole tasting thing) and the catamaran sailing is not cheap, but really wonderful - ask Mark and Christine to set it up. We also enjoyed the wine tasting at the Vedema hotel in the village (super swanky hotel, celeb regulars etc - call in for a drink and wander around like you own it!). All in all, a great holiday on a lovely island. But it was the beautiful house which really made it special. We felt really lucky to call it 'ours' for a week.

TREATED LIKE FAMILY

5 of 5
Our stay at Anthea House in Pyrgos, Santorini was one of the most restful and enjoyable we have experienced during our many travels abroad. Marika is a remarkable hostess. She went out of her way to make us feel like family. Her breakfasts were to die for (lunch was almost an afterthought) and set us up for a full day of sightseeing and travel around the villages and back roads of the Island. Marika arranged a very reasonable car rental agent and took the time to guide us down to Kamari Beach and to show us the way to the Catholic Cathedral in Fira. Pyrgos is situated at the highest point on Santorini and afforded a cool and refreshing evening climate. We slept like logs. If you are looking for warm and personal memories of Santorini, we recommend Anthea House. Mark and Dita Ruelle
