location, beaches, golf and stunning views

5 of 5
The location is perfect with views over the golf course, south facing tranquil garden and stunning views over the bay of St Tropez where its famous beaches are only minutes away. We had a wonderful time exploring the local area with its picturesque, mediaeval villages, its vineyards and excellent restaurants plus a few rounds of golf on the exclusive, Gary Player, championship course. The house is beautifully equipped and we loved the huge, private sun terrace leading off the upstairs bedrooms. The pool complex is stunning and convenient, as are the tennis courts and the fitness centre. We would definitely recommend this villa as a perfect holiday choice for anyone who appreciates really gorgeous surroundings and fabulous facilities. •

Charming French Villa in the Heart of St. Tropez

5 of 5
An oasis of French country calm awaits the guests at Villa Madeleine in the heart of downtown St. Tropez, just around the corner from Sube Hotel in the middle of the old port one of the passageways up to Place des Lices. The two-story private villa is accessed by a covered entrance hallway that leads both into the downstairs large living room with back kitchen and opens onto the private garden with outdoor covered dining terrace as well as elevated pool with covered lounge. The two upstairs bedrooms have separate entrances and the master has a modern ensuite bathroom complete with large bathtub. Villa Madeleine is furnished with lovely French wooden antiques as well as a modern flatscreen TV with soundsystem, a perfect blend of old world charm and modern conveniences . All in all, one of the top values in St. Tropez at any time of the year. Be sure to book early!!

Beautiful and romantic - but exposed when it's win

5 of 5
I think I want to give 4.5 stars but can't! The pictures are accurate and le bastidon is charming, beautiful, romantic and secluded. We had a lovely week. The cottage is small but has everything you need. The kitchen was well equipped. The iPhone/ iPad docking speakers are a good touch and we appreciated the DVD player (I brought some DVDs) as no English TV not even a news channel. But we weren't there to watch tv so no problem! The free bottle of wine was also a nice touch. The pool is as lovely as it looks. Jumping in was the first thing I did! Slight negatives were that the water was off one morning (our first morning) but it was rectified that same morning. The "reporting mechanism" (texting/ calling Solveig works v well). The location and view means the property is extremely exposed to wind which whips up through the valley and through the property like a wind tunnel. We learned that it's isolated ie a kind of micro climate: it doesn't mean it's blowing a gale elsewhere but we couldn't use the pool or outside kitchen for majority of stay, had to retrieve pool furniture from down the hill every morning and had disturbed sleep (rattling doors and windows). But we came in September so it's early autumn not summer, and we might have been unlucky with the weather. It didn't ruin the holiday but it was an issue for us - admittedly one out of the owners control. The pool and outside kitchen were a draw so we were v disappointed not to use them much. The mountain roads are fun, certainly beautiful but also scary. Especially the way some other drivers use them. I think the driving did tire my husband. We didn't spend any full days at the property (windy) so every day involved narrow roads and hairpin bends. We'd consider a return but never in autumn. It is a charming property, well looked after and worth a visit. I loved the location with both coast and mountains accessible to us although we're debating whether being closer to a train line would help us on future trips. I was sad to leave and am sad to be home. It was a little bit of heaven. But it turns out that heaven is windy!
