Stunning apartment set in a beautiful landscape.

5 of 5
The property was of an exceptional high standard, extremely comfortable and homely. The facilities within the property were well provided TV, DVD. Wifi iPod connections lovely kitchen. Bedrooms very comfortable and spacious. The property was very clean and the layout extremely well planned to provide a very distinctive character- very impressed. The views were so picturesque (for which ever season of the year) neighbours very helpful for local information. Pool was great for all the family in a lovely tranquil setting. The town of Semur en Auxois is a short walk and accessed in various ways along the river and up the steps through the rampart or up a short hill aside the rampart are two such routes. The owner has obviously taken a great deal of time to compose such a lovely home and were available to offer advice. We visited the local restaurants in Semur of which there were a great selection both for lunchtime dining and evening the two we liked were Le Saint Vernier and la Parenthese Two different styles the first very rustic - with local dishes and the 2nd more fine dining. We visited the local area and took in places such as Avallon. Fontenay Abbey (stunning architecture). Vezenay a lovely medievil village with a beautiful church and lovely quaint and picturesque buildings - with local wines available in a caves on the exit of the town. Flavigny is worth a visit with the local aniseed Bon bons and a short distance from Semur is Epoisses which has a lovely chateau in a walled keep with moat - worth a visits plus it famous for its soft "smelly cheese" used in a lot of local cookery You need to be aware that you can't take a late lunch in a lot of the local restaurants they seem to stick rigidly to the opening times 12.00 - 14.00hrs but you soon get into the local time zones .... A wonderful holiday with something for everyone would definitely recommend to friends and family Thank you Anthea and David Liz, Paddy and Annie Coyne
