We decided on a short drive and stay in Normandy this year having limited time, and having driven through the region so many times! We deliberately chose a traditional style of house to give our stay some context, and we were not disappointed. The house is exactly as it is described; beautifully decorated and maintained and it could not have been more thoughtfully equipped. The owners were extremely helpful when we had problems with the wifi, which was a real bonus if you have to keep in touch with work (!) in such a beautiful rural setting. We have 3 children, 2 of them teenage boys, and they all found things to do. The grassy area provided excellent scope for football practice, the local area is great for keen runners and the kitchen was a dream for a cake- baking mother and daughter on a grey day! The bedrooms were a particular favourite as they are spacious and very comfortable, providing plenty of room for all of us. In fact the house is very large - we didn't really use half of the ground floor as the small sitting room and kitchen were so comfortable. We had decided on a sight-seeing holiday, and managed to pack in trips to Paris, Deauville, Honfleur, local markets, Bec Hellouin Abbey and Rouen which is fabulous if you are looking for bookshops, clothes shops and restaurants, which we were. We didn't find time for the Landing Beaches or Bayeux so will have to come again! We all agreed this was the best house we had stayed in, and that Normandy is a seriously underrated part of France. We were very lucky with the weather, but I think it would still be lovely even in the rain!
