A wonderful evocative chateau in true French style

5 of 5
The description and pictures provide a good accurate representation of the property. We are a large multi-family group of 17 who have holidayed together at a number of locations and this has been one of the better ones. The kitchen is large enough and with cookware capable of serving a large group size. The large indoor and outdoor tables were spacious and enabled us to all eat together easily. The four public sitting rooms and dining room meant there was usually plenty of space to find somewhere quiet to sit and read ,even with such a large group. The pool and garden area are spacious, private and quiet. The on-site manager introduced himself on the first day and made it clear we could call him with any questions or problems should we had any..... We didn't have any. The property was clean and cool, even when temperatures reached 35dC, helped by tiled and wooden floors throughout . The location within the small quiet village is ideal and allows a short walk to boulangerie, co-op and café/bar, for most day-to-day requirements. The area is also ideal for cycling and walking along quiet roads or along tracks across vinyards and fields. The nearby beaches are good with Mescher being our favourite. It is set in a cove with chalk cliffs behind a tree lined and white sandy beach, although the water is a bit muddy as it is at the mouth of the Gironde estuary. Came back with lots of inexpensive local wine purchased at local wineries where it is possible to taste and chat directly to the growers. Would certainly recommend for large mixed or family groups who want to holiday together.
