Sojourn in Normandy at Le Presbytere

5 of 5
Stunningly beautiful. We used Le Presbytere as our focal point for day trips every day. Our first day at the chateau, Saturday, we enjoyed a dinner provided by Karen, an exceptionally helpful and pleasant lady. Day 2, Sunday, we visited Ste. Suzanne and enjoyed pastries in the local shops. Day 3, Monday, we drove to the Loire River Valley visiting Joan of Arc sites at St. Catherine de Fierbois and Chinon, and the wine house Caroline recommended in Vouvray. We bought several bottles of sec and demi-sec wine. Day 4, Tuesday, we drove to Mont St. Michel, and on the way back to the chateau stopped at a Calvados place, purchasing several bottles of Calvados. Day 5 we drove to Rouen to visit the the church of Joan of Arc as well as the beautiful Rouen cathedral. Day 6 we drove to Omaha Beach and viewed the American Cemetery and museum. We also stopped in Bayeaux to view the historic tapestry. Round trip driving was around 350 km each day, but we enjoyed the French countryside. We were all surprised and pleased to see the fields so green. BTW, the weather was fantastic, actually warm. I did not use my scarf, wool hat and gloves until our last day, Saturday, in Paris. It was a memorable sojourn in Normandy at Le Presbytere. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Regards, Theo

French paradise

5 of 5
We loved every minute of our magical stay at Champfreau. We booked the main house for us and the appartment for my parents. We loved the extensive grounds - especially fishing in the moat. Eating Al fresco and breakfast in the huge living room. Fantastically equipped kitchen - we don't usually cook much on holiday but the kitchen made it so easy. We bought food from the local markets and wine from the local vineyards. Steve and Bruce were exceptional hosts and we loved Zeb , the doodle and all the lovely cats. This place is like heaven !

Stunning!!! Fabulous place to stay.

5 of 5
"Wow!!!!!" We have just returned from a fantastic break to the Chateau de L'Oseraie. The most beautiful B&B/self contained gites we have ever stayed in, with the most stunning views across the fields towards the river from our room. The web site description was accurate and photos really didn't do it justice! Rooms were very clean and well restored, and decorated in keeping with this beautiful grand house, with lovely soft towels, comfortable beds and lovely hot water. The grounds are 'endless' and the weather we had made strolling in the grounds fabulous. The owners went out of their way to make our break comfortable - breakfast was varied, tea/coffee making facilities available freely, good internet access, information relating to activities/sightseeing and restaurants available. We didn't realise how much there was to visit in the local area, and thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Angers castle, Musee Jean-Lurcat (beautiful modern tapestries) and driving around the city on the 'petit train', visiting a local medieval fayre, walking around the old village of St Dennis (10 mins drive away), and the purchasing of wine at a 'cave' in Brissac. We ate lovely meals in Tierce and Chateauneuf which were recommended by the owners. We would definitely recommend the Chateau de L'Oseraie to friends and family and look forward to visiting again.
