The perfect base for a magical Loire holiday

5 of 5
It is hard to summarise in a few words just what makes Les Fleurs such a wonderful option for couples and families. It began for us as a random online search for holiday ideas for our first trip abroad with our young daughter. It became, however, a love affair that has given us six superb holiday experiences. First, the setting. Les Fleurs is set in the lovely hamlet of Les Verchers sur Layon in the heart of wine country. Surrounded by vineyards, it is nonetheless very close to everything you need. The bakery in Les Verchers is 2 minutes away, the attractive and well-serviced town of Doue la Fontaine is 10 minutes away and the large and historic Saumur is 20 minutes away. Next, the grounds. Les Fleurs is very pretty and extremely well-maintained. Set in a former farm yard, the property is gated and secure (great for small kids). Flowers abound and outdoor spaces have everything you could need. There is a pool with lounge facilities, well-equipped children's play area and organic fruit garden which you are encouraged to use. A small cave is used for wine tasting evenings and locally sourced saumur rouge, Anjou rouge and saumur Blanc are sold on site. The gites. We have always stayed in Anjou, a lovingly restored three bedroom farmhouse with half door. The house is extremely well-equipped and always spotlessly clean. The house has its own private back garden with BBQ, full kitchen, dining room, sitting room with TV/DVD as well as a laundry facilities. There is a huge amount to do in the area. A microbrewery operates five minutes away. Doue la Fontaine has a world class zoo, an excellent market and a rose garden/traditional farm. The chateau at Saumur is a must, as is the world famous Cadre Noir equestrian school. The Mushroom caves and troglodyte caves are well worth a visit. And then there are the wineries...... I am deliberately keeping the best til last, however. What makes Les Fleurs a stand out place is the quality of care you get from the owners. Jon and Sue Fletcher have managed to strike the perfect balance between providing personal service at the highest level without actually intruding on your holiday. Tailored itineraries, a flying service, outstanding cooking, age-appropriate toys & equipment and a DVD library are just some of what is on offer. We cannot recommend Les Fleurs highly enough to couples and families looking for the perfect balance of relaxation and activity.

Relaxed and welcoming - a perfect stay!

5 of 5
Myself, my husband and our 14 month old daughter travelled to the Loire Valley for our first family holiday. We received a fantastically warm welcome from Johan, and were shown to our gite for the week. Inside the gite was beautifully restored and well-maintained. We had everything we needed for the week, and additional facilities such as a washing machine were just a few steps away from the gite. Johan and Juul had also kindly provided baby equipment such as a highchair and buggy. While the gite was everything we hoped for, it was the outside space that really made our holiday for us. Our daughter had just started to walk, and the grounds provided a safe space for her to explore, and we enjoyed making use of the heated outdoor pool. The rural setting, the fruit trees and hammocks all contributed to a lovely sense of calm that helped us relax and get into the holiday spirit as soon as we arrived. Johan was always on hand to help or advise should we need it, and one of the highlights of the trip was his pizza night, making and baking our own pizzas in his restored bread oven. All in all, a great stay and one that we would highly recommend.

Family of 5 , in the Rose Villa

5 of 5
It was a very peaceful and relaxing holiday, especially been with my 6 month old sister. The holiday was very nice and easy as the owners offered us lots of staff for the baby –chair for the table, push chair for walking her out, baby bed. The pool was very warm and clean and in the perfect temperature. The area surrounding L'Isle is very nice and ideal for cycling (the bicycles provided for free from the owners) as it gives a very smooth pavements and roads to cycle on! That we did and loved a lot! One day in the week we would make our own delicious pizza in the wooden fire made from the owners and eat by the bonfire. Other evening we were watching the stars, playing on the guitars and my parents drinking wine from the cellar of the owners. That they did a lot, too. From Jan, 14 year old, the middle son. The time past in very relaxed and lazy manner and we had great memories form the place. Highly recommended and I will love to be there one more time, again. From Deyan ,The father
