The perfect retreat for a french get-a-way for friends or family alike.
We stayed for a week but could easily have stayed for a month. The house is situated in a small but lively town with various eateries and things to do (would strongly recommend eating the the chateau when you visit). Being only 5 minutes walk from the town, it is ideal for the morning trip in to get fresh bread, cheeses and meats, however the house is also remote enough to feel a sense of freedom, with it's own space.
The house itself is superb, with 5 bedrooms, all with very comfy beds (3 double), a fully furnished kitchen, living room, dining room, 3 toilets, 2 showers and a study it has everything you need to move in from day one. Fresh towels are provided (as are two bottles of wine which helped get rid of the stresses of travelling).
However the pool is the greatest feature of the house. Spacious enough for swimming lengths and the perfect depth for allowing ball games to be played it allows afternoons in the sun to fly by. Surrounded by loungers and a full outside dining table and bbq most of your time will no doubt be spent here (if you go to the local butcher to buy your meats, he throws in a bottle of wine...very recommended).
Local activities include a karting track (only open on weekends), a trip to bordeux is only an hour away, inland beaches, aubetterre, horse riding, the local market is on mondays and lots of local vinyards and cognac tours.
I could not recommend it highly enough.
The only downside is that one week really is not long enough.
