Portmore is a coastal city in south Jamaica, an island known for its tropical beauty and reggae music. The suburbs of Portmore stretch across the plains to the west of Kingston, the island's capital and are linked by a causeway toll road. At the end of the causeway there are huge neon signs and the banks, shops and shopping mall which serve the area. It was destroyed in 1692 by an earthquake and then became the base for the British Navy. Visit the museum, the naval base and the tilting Giddy House or enjoy a meal at one of the fish restaurants.
