The best place to find great shopping is at the modern shopping centre near Desenzano del Garda. It is one of the largest malls in the area and has striking modern architecture made up of two circular buildings covered in blue mirrored glass. Desenzano del Garda is on the southwest tip of the lake. Founded in the Roman era it is a charming town with beautiful architecture and a small fishing port. Visit the medieval castle and explore the 16th century Cathedral of St Mary Magdalene which has several famous paintings including Giambattista Tiepolo's ‘Last Supper’. The ruins of the Villa Romana and the Tower of St Martin are well-known local landmarks.Bergamo
Bergamo is a short, scenic drive away from Salo, nestled in the foothills of the Alps. It has a fine collection of ancient monuments, museums and fabulous works of art as well as a 14th century castle. The Palazzo della Ragione is even older and is a fabulous building to tour.Verona
The graceful city of Verona is a treasure trove of historic buildings including the roman amphitheatre just outside the city walls. There are several other roman relics around the Piazza delle Erbe, which was the original Roman forum and marketplace.
Lake Garda enjoys beautiful weather from spring through autumn with plenty of sunshine and around two inches of rain per month. Temperatures in July reach 29°C (85°F) and higher whilst winters see temperatures drop below freezing at night.
