Holidaymakers can take a motor boat to the beautiful Saona Island. Less than two hours away is the site of a recreated 16th-century Mediterranean village, with amphitheatre at Altos de Chavón.

The temperature in the Dominican Republic is fairly consistent throughout the year. The average is around 25 degrees centigrade, but it rarely falls below 20C. The rainy season is between May and November, when showers tend to be heavy but short, with the sunshine soon returning. February and March are usually the driest months of the year.

Travel to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) is located at Punta Caucedo near Santo Domingo. Flights arrive here from several international airports including Frankfurt (FRA), Madrid (MAD), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) amongst others. Alternatively visitors can fly to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) on the east side of the island, which has flights arriving from some other European airports such as Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Lisbon (LIS), London-Gatwick (LGW), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME), Vienna (VIE) and Zurich (ZRH) amongst others. From each airport visitors can get a taxi to their destination or there are several car rental companies located here too.
