San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico, a US territory. It is an important seaport with many visiting cruise ships during the winter. It has a higher standard of living than many Caribbean islands with American branded goods available.
Shopping, dining and touring the historic city are the main attractions from holiday apartments in San Juan. This historic city has many historic buildings and defensive forts including Fort San Felipe del Morro and Fort San Cristobal, part of the San Juan Historic Site. Take a guided walking tour of the city to discover many narrow streets cobbled with local blue stone, colonial buildings and brightly painted houses rising up the hillside above the port. The city has attracted many artists and musicians and their work is on display in art galleries as well as on the streets. Playa Isla Verde is the best place for watersports. Take a ride on a jet ski or try a banana boat ride around the bay if you dare! Go scuba diving around Condado or snorkeling in the warm waters near Fajardo.
The San Juan Historic Site is well worth visiting from your holiday rental in San Juan. It includes the two colonial-era forts, powder houses and bastions, the El Canuelo fort on the Isla de Cabras and most of the old city walls.
