Samoens is a commune in the French department of Haute-Savoie. The provincial town of the same name has been distinguished as one of the most beautiful towns in France, and has developed as a summer and winter resort. Samoens is part of the Grand Massif in the formidable shadow of Mont Blanc. With access to 256km of downhill skiing, Samoens is ideal for the majority of skiing holidays. Chamonix is a world famous ski resort, which is both lively and traditional. It has slopes and ski schools catering for all levels of ability as well as a wide range of summer sports and cultural attractions.
Portes du Soleil combines 14 separate ski resorts to become the largest skiing area on the globe. It is an attraction for both skiers and snowboarders.
The average temperatures in summer are in the low 20’s (°C), which make taking a holiday rental in Samoens so ideal for hiking, golf and all climbing. Winters are of course cold, averaging close to freezing during December and January.
Geneva Airport (GVA) is the closest to the holiday rentals in Samoens, with transfer options available to the resort. Geneva Airport is an hour and a half from Samoens, but there are regular cheap flights from the UK leaving the majority of airports on a daily basis, especially during the winter.
