Salernes is a small town in the French department of Var, set on the side of a hill in the Bresque Valley. Surrounded by heavily forested hills, and famous for red ceramic roofs, Salernes is a very beautiful small town, which has long attracted walkers, riders and those looking to relax in an idyllic hideaway in the France countryside.

Hiking throughout the region is a popular activity to enjoy from accommodation in Salernes, and there are some inspiring trails through the forested hills which surround the town. Cycling and horse riding trails are abundant around Salernes, encouraging exploration of the countryside.
Draguignan is just 23km from a holiday rental in Salernes, and offers a huge amount of places of interest, as the streets are filled with art galleries, museums, cafes and provincial restaurants which surround small shaded squares.
Lorgues is also very accessible from an apartment in Salernes. Lorgues is a magnificently well preserved medieval walled town, surrounded by unspoilt French countryside, and containing a number of great restaurants.
Summers in Salernes are pleasantly warm, with temperatures averaging around 22˚C during the summer and a mild 7˚C in the winter time.
Toulon-Hyeres Airport (TLN) is around 95km from Salernes, and Nice International Airport (NCE) is 125km away. However, due to the condition of the roads, transfers from either airport to a holiday rental in Salernes take only around one hour. Nice also receives more regular cheap flights and is therefore probably a better option for reaching your Salernes accommodation.
