Sainte Foy is a magnificent ski resort in the northern Alps of France, famous for its endless off piste, but surrounded by the relative ski resort giants of Val d’Isere, Tignes and Les Arcs. Its location in amongst these world famous resorts has meant that Sainte Foy has been able to quietly excel without loosing the battle to concrete hotels and vastly exaggerated prices on facilities and lifts, instead preferring to retain its authentic, friendly atmosphere and uncrowded charm. There is a traditional feel the village, and a chalet or apartment in Sainte Foy lets you truly immerse yourself in the regions culture and atmosphere. Those who know the beauty of Sainte Foy are hugely welcoming, and yet would prefer the secret stayed well kept!
Sainte Foy enjoys excellent skiing conditions throughout the winter, and due to the attractions of the surrounding mega-resorts, the pistes of Sainte Foy remain in immaculate condition throughout the day. The skiing itself is best aimed at intermediate skiers, but there are both scenic, sweeping descents towards the bottom of the resort, and fearsome downhill pistes to get the adrenaline pumping too. Sainte Foy is blessed with some of the best skiing available, and Mount Pourri offers 800 hectares of virgin snow to explore.
If skiing is not your cup of tea, there are plenty of other options whilst your family enjoy the empty slopes. You can either learn the art on the nursery slopes, or if you really do not want to ski, you can tackle on of the delightful snow shoe trails, take charge of a husky sledge or even take an aerial view of the Alps from the harness of a paraglider!
In summer, Sainte Foy rental apartments are still full. The magnificent walking and mountain biking options high in the Alps draw visitors from all around the world to enjoy the magnificent scenery under Europe’s largest peak, Mont Blanc.
From the quiet luxury of a Sainte Foy rental chalet, the larger resorts are easily accessible, although once you arrive in your self catering Sainte Foy accommodation, the chances of you wanting to leave the village are greatly reduced!
Probably the most famous ski resort in France, Val d’Isere is set high in the Alps, offering some of the most exclusive après-ski in the area. If you are looking for a late night partying in bars and clubs, a visit to Val d’Isere is probably your best bet. The restaurants and pubs of Sainte Foy are excellent, but not directed towards huge nights out.
Tignes is also one of the larger and more commercial of the skiing resorts of the Northern Alps. It is a magnificent place to ski if you have a family or group of people with a range of skiing abilities. Tignes offers quiet nursery slopes and formidable black runs side by side.
As with all the ski resorts in the area, winters in Sainte Foy are very cold, but many of the traditional chalets in Sainte Foy have large, open fireplaces, so keeping snug and warm is not a problem! In the summer, temperatures are very mild, averaging around 22?C, perfect for walking and cycling.
Chambery (CMF) is the nearest airport to any of the Sainte Foy rental accommodation available. Located around 110km away, Chambery receives cheap flights from a surprising variety of airports from across the UK, provided by Flybe and Jet2.
