Holidaymakers looking for a beautiful and fascinating place to stay in the southern half of the United States should try Ruidoso in New Mexico. These include places such as the Ruidoso River Museum, The Hubbard Museum of the American West and F.T Stanton Museum and Visitor’s Center. A great place to take the kids is the Smokey Bear Historical Park Museum in Capitan, which is about half an hour away. Another excellent place to visit is Hondo Iris Farm and Gallery, which is about 24 miles from Ruidoso and features beautiful gardens as well paintings and sculptures. A little further north of Ruidoso is Carrizozo, where amongst the attractions is the Heritage Museum.
The hottest month of the year is July with an average high temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit. January and December are the coolest months with average highs of 44 degrees Fahrenheit and lows of just 15 degrees. The wettest month of the year is also July with an average 2.25 inches of rainfall, while February is the driest with just half an inch of rain on average.
El Paso International Airport (ELP) is approximately 135 miles from Ruidoso. Flights arrive here from numerous U.S cities including Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX) and Phoenix (PHX). Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty have car rental counters in the baggage claim area of El Paso airport. Visitors from overseas can fly to Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and get a connecting flight to El Paso. Flights to Dallas arrive from many cities including Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Tokyo-Narita (NRT) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ).
