Located in the Christ Church parish of Barbados, Rockley is a haven of beach life and water sports in the Caribbean. Known as having the best beaches in the south of the island, Rockley is a fantastically popular beach holiday destination, and although it never becomes crowded, every facility and water sport you could wish for can be found with ease.
The glorious white sand beaches of Rockley are simply stunning. Backed by palm trees and consisting of fine white sand, you can spend many, many hours lazing on the beach and still feel like you are dreaming when you look around! The waters of the Caribbean are beautifully warm all year round, making bathing, swimming and snorkelling an absolute delight. Water sports are particularly popular from self catering Rockley accommodation, and there are water sports centres in abundance. Fishing, scuba diving and sailing are particularly rewarding activities, and easily arranged upon your arrival.
The Club Rockley Golf Course is a great little golf course just outside Bridgetown. Although it is only 9 holes, there are easily enough challenges to keep any golfer happy for a few hours, and the almost negligible green fees are worth paying many, many times over! Open to the public all year round, the Club Rockley Golf Course is a huge attraction in the area, providing a magnificent way to spend a few hours.
The Rockley area of Barbados is perfectly situated to take advantage of the commercial centres of Christ Church too. There are a great range of shops, restaurants and galleries which bring visitors from every corner of the islands, especially those in self catering accommodation as the fresh fruit and fish available are exceptional.
Bridgetown, Barbados’ capital, is a thriving city just a few miles down the road from a Rockley villa. There is an astonishing mix of modern commercial centres and old colonial buildings, as well as historical monuments and sites to investigate.
Barbados is one of the world’s true year round destinations, with monthly average temperatures remaining between 28˚C and 30˚C. July is the warmest and wettest month of the year, but it is certainly not wet enough to keep visitors away from the beach for very long!
Barbados’ international airport, the Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) is located within the Christ Church parish, within 20km of any Rockley villa. With British Airways and Virgin-Atlantic both providing cheap, direct flights from London, a self catering Rockley property is far closer than you may have imagined!
