A week in Vieux Nice

Review Submitted: 27 April 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We thought that this flat was about the best-equipped we've ever rented (even had a teapot - great pour les Britanniques!) with full-sized cooker etc, and really lacked for nothing. Very nicely decorated as well, smart but with a bit of an ethnic tang.

We had a lovely week and really enjoyed being in Vieux Nice with everything right on the doorstep - we spent a lot of time wandering around the market buying delicious food to take home and cook (the local oranges are amazing), and an evening stroll down to the Promenade to watch the skaters was just the thing before supper! If you do eat out there's a huge choice, again starting a few yards from the door, two superb ice cream shops, and a wide range of clubs and bars.

The public transport system in Alpes Maritimes is brilliant and very cheap – you can cover the whole département for €1 per trip – which also makes Rue Rossetti a good base to explore the area.

We Loved This Apartment

Review Submitted: 19 April 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
My husband and I fell completely in love with this little apartment. The owner has managed to update every room and yet maintain the Old Nice look. The kitchen was unusually well-equipped and the living room had a wonderful collection of books, DVDs, and CDs. We felt as if our every need had been anticipated, and the whole apartment was comfortable and charming.

Rue Rossetti is perfect for exploring Nice--five minute walk gets you to Castle Hill, the beach with its grand boardwalk, Cours Saleya with its markets and cafes, the city tram, the bus station, dozens of wonderful little shops and restaurants, and more. We also enjoyed just watching Old Town daily life from our windows. We hope to return soon.

Lovely little apartment in

The flat is very tastefully laid out, and has everything two people could need. It is centrally-located in the old town. This has obvious advantages; it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach, the city's main square and the bus station, and you are spoiled for choice regarding restaurants and bars on the doorstep. On the downside, it can be noisy at night. We had no problems on a Wednesday, but were kept awake until 5 the following morning on Thursday and Friday. I guess you have to adapt to the sleeping patterns of the locals as the weekend draws nearer!
Nice itself is a terrific city; beautifully located on a wide sweeping bay, with snow-topped mountains as a backdrop. There are shops of every description, whether department store or boutiques, the street food is superb and the public transport cheap, regular and clean. Don't even think about taking a car.
A particular favourite of ours' was the park of Le Chateau at the top of the street. I would strongly advise anyone to make this their first port of call; it offers superb views over the city and is a wonderfully restful place in itself.

Owner's Response: Hi James
Many thanks for your kind review. It's always so nice ( and reassuring) to know that our guests have enjoyed their stay in our apartment and found that it is equipped to meet their needs and on the doorstep of so many attractions.
Yes, the old town of Nice is an incredibly vibrant place and as you say, you do need to adjust to the local life -style!
With this in mind, our apartment is a great place to stay for a truly Nicoise experience!

Thank you once again for your review.

A trip to fary-tail-land: Nice

To celebrate 25-year jubilee our family were booked for 1 week to Nice old town: a maried couple in the mid-fifties, one son 25 years old and his girl-friend and a 23 years old son. We had rentet two appartments, and one of them was 4 Rue Rosetti, ment for the young couple. We were met by Mike, who gave us the key and showed us up into the appartment. The first impression of the main-entrance: the door that led out into the streat, was very narrow, and the stairs up to the first floor to the appartement was very steep, not for elderly people or people with walking-problems. None of us were in that situation, and once inside the appartmen we were very content to se: a clean appartment with all facilities and "designed" with personally taste. This was a "private home", not an impersonal hotel. Everything matched the discription on the homepage! Including the discription of the bed: broad but low-cieling, but it did not bother the young couple ( our son is rather tall ! )
The appartment is situated at a very lively streat, which leads to a close-by square with a lot of people, restaurants and shops. If you like lokal-people-noise and night-life and don´t mind that, it was a good experience for our young people, who loved to watch people from their windows and who themselves joined the night-life.
Both the appartment, the situation in the center of old-Nice and the short distance to everything made it the perfect choise to the price, which seemed fair to us.
We will certainly rekomend this appartment to others, who dream of a place in the center of Nice, where things are happening and it all starts right outside your main-entrance, and we would most certainly consider renting it again for a closer look at Nice and the area arround.

A perfect cosy hideaway in old Nice.

A lovely, cosy apartment which is a perfect hideaway right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Nice old town. It has a lot of character and maintains the charm of an old town apartment while having good modern facilities. Mind your head on the original beams in the bedroom! You are met on day one by the very helpful Mike who gives a quick run through of the apartment and surrounding area and is then on hand to help with any problems during the stay - which there weren't. The location is fantastic. If you want to buy food to eat in - there's a superb bakery round the corner and the amazing fresh food market is just two minutes walk away. You are surrounded by a wide variety of excellent restaurants if you prefer to eat out. We'll recommend this apartment to friends and we'll very likely make a return visit ourselves.

my husband and i fell in love with this charming apartment the moment we opened the door.it was immaculate and beautifully decorated, and although it had been modernised the owners had managed to keep all of it's original character intact.it was cosy, cheerful and comfortable, and these attributes added to the vibrancy and colour of the surrounding area enabled us to sample the true essence of nice, and we shall certainly be hoping to return again next year.

Dear Angela,

Just a line to complement my wife's message to you. We had a great time in Nice - and your apartment was a perfect base for exploring the city. We tried our level best to visit as many of the music bars and restaurants in the old town as we could - but will have to come back again to finish the job. It certainly is a lively place!

Many thanks again for your helpful advice which helped us to have a great break away.

Regards, Jon.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment in August and loved it. The apartment is in a superb location. It is very clean and tastefully decorated and has a real romantic charm about it. There are nice bars and restaurants all around and the jazz bar is particularly good. The atmosphere in the old town is great and we will certainly go again.
Booking was easy and the owner was very good at replying to our e-mails.

Romantic French Apartment

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 02 June 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
Thanks so much for allowing us to spend our honeymoon in your beautiful apartment! The property is not only tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped but in a great location- a two minute walk from the beach and is right in the centre of romantic Old Nice. The booking process was very straightforward and efficient, and we were met at the apartment by your agent, Mike, who was extremely helpful and informative, and even carried our suitcases up to the apartment for us! The chamagne, also, was a real treat! Place Rosetti is a great place; we enjoyed visiting all the different restaurants and bars, listening to the live music, and savouring the mediterranean atmosphere. We also loved visiting the art museums that were close by. Great value for money. We definitely would love to book again!
