Just a quick line to say that we had a wonderful week at Eugenia Haus and to thank you for all your help; it was particularly good of John to run our luggage up and down the mountain.

Review Submitted: 31 August 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
We enjoyed a great 1 week holiday in Engelberg. The house is beautiful and very well equipped. The views from every window are breathtaking.
The owners, John and Jacqueline were very friendly and extremely helpful, giving us a short tour of the town and making us feel at home in the house.

Owner's Response: Dear Eli,

Such a lovely party, we are so glad you had a great time, thank you for letting us know.
Yes it is unusual to have good views on four sides of a property, an architects dream . As a 'family home' Eugenia Haus functions well, built for privacy, in a unique position for seclusion and safety without isolation and plenty of outdoor space.

Best wishes

Jacqueline and John

Lovely House

Review Submitted: 21 March 2011 Date of Stay: February 2011
We stayed in thsi property in the February half term week and had a really good week.

The house was just as described or perhaps even better, the kitchen was extremely well appointed and had every utensil you could possibly think of, the attention to detail was excellent.

The living area was very comfortable, spacious and well furnished and the balcony room was a lovely cosy place to sit and admire the spectacular views.

The location was a comfortable walk from the centre of the town and the gondola station., usually taking about 10-15 mins.

The beds were so comfortable and the bedrooms were also spacious and well furnished with plenty of hanging space and general storage.

Engelberg is a llovely town and not as expensive as we thought it maybe, the Yucatan is the place to go between 5-6 forthe happy hour, also they do really nice food especially the burgers.

Last but by no means least, John and Jaqueline who own the house were extremely helpful both before and during our stay, They have extensive knowledge of the local area and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We would love to return some day.

My family (7 grand children from 11 to 27 years old, their parents and myself with my wife,- the grand parents) had a wonderful 7 day vacation in this house from 22.9.10until 28.9.10.
The location is exelent, beatiful views of the sorounding , short distance to super markets (2). The house is fully aquiped with al the neccessary equipment in the kitchen for 14 people, and the sitting room with DVD player as well as with a full HD tv monitor, with comfortable sofas and chairs.
The dining room has a big table that can easily acomodate 13-14 people around it. The "winter balcony with apbig sorounding glas window give you beautiful views of the Titilis and the sorundig picks. Very quite place, with the sound of some cows's bels only around.
On the lower lewel there is a possibility to use a large open griler as well.
To summerise: exelent place to spend your vacation with the whole family, very kind owners (unfortunately we didn't met them but through e-mails only).

My brilliant weekend

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 19 September 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
Have just returned from a marvellous weekend staying in the house, and would heartily agree with all the other reviewers. This is a really quality place for skiing, sightseeing or a just a relaxing break sampling Swiss life.

Comfortable, modern, well furnished and spacious, the house is filled with lots of lovely furniture and feels like a home from home. I slept heartily, as they say. The facilities are modern inside, and outside there is the most lovely recently-added balcony with terrific views of Mount Titlis. We ate out there in the sun on the Sunday, and stayed there with some fine wine chatting for hours!

Needless to say the village is small but very friendly and pretty - are they not all like this in Switzerland? - with enough to see and do. Even the train journey was fun, from Zurich via an easy change in Lucene, and a steep climb through the mountains to the terminus at Engelberg.

All in all I recommend the house - in fact plan a return trip later this year. See you there!

Cracking Ski Holiday - Didn't want to leave!

Cracking Ski Holiday - Didn't want to leave!

We started our holiday flying into Basel (on a lost cost flight) & boarded the train to Lucerne, and another to Engleberg. Connections worked out well, & the journey was thoroughly enjoyable. The lake at Lucerne was stunning, & the climb up to Engelberg, through forests and quaint villages was truly breathtaking. On reaching E'berg, we thought we had entered into a Winter Wonderland - hooraagh!

We were met by John & Gay who kindly picked us up from the train station & took us to the chalet. The chalet was of a high standard - it was clean, a good size, and was decorated to a traditional yet modern style. The view from the chalet to Mount Titlis was mesmerising. You could just look out the window & forget about all troubles & enjoy the peacefulness & tranquillity of it all.

Morning after the day of travel: we woke up and took the short walk to the main ski lift. It was great to see that there weren’t any queues & this was the case for the whole week. Bonus!

My sister and I have done a ski season each and so we're pretty confident on ours skis. We were hoping that the skiing would be challenging enough for us & am happy to say that it certainly lived up to our expectations. There was variety on the slopes, & enough devilish runs to get the adrenalin going. It snowed a couple of times so we were able to enjoy going off-piste & enjoy a bit of power snow.

It was the second time skiing for my nephew who is now 8. We sent him for lessons at the Swiss Ski School – and he absolutely loved it. He was very well looked after, and his skiing improved immensely. His teacher was a true professional – he spoke perfect English, and got the best from his young team. Medals presented at the award ceremony at the end of the week gave the children something to be proud of – and parents, friends (and aunties) were happy to see their sense of achievement.

When you want a break from skiing, there’s a lot to explore on the mountain. There's an igloo hotel that's built every year - you could stay there for a night or two, or like us .. stop there for some cheese fondue and Gluvine. There’s also a Glacier Grotto and the rotating cable car (Rotair) is another plus.

Nightlife in E'berg is fun. We went to the Yucatan which was good, but the Spindle Night Club proved to be the better of the two. The traditional Swiss restaurant at Alpenclub is a must for food - and the atmosphere there is fab.

A fab trip all in all - which ticked many boxes.

Week in Engelberg

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 11 February 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
Me and my nine friends stayed in this house for a week in February 2009 while snowboarding in Engelberg. The house was really nice. Enough space for more than ten people. Spacious rooms where all ten of us could have breakfast or spend evenings together. Well furnished rooms, comfortable sofas, nice fireplace and soft beds etc. Nice view to the village and to the mountains from balconies, terraces and (during winter time glass covered and floor heated room). Good visibility from the house to the Titlis main cabin station to see if it’s working in the morning. Further more visibility to the Titlis peak to get a hint of the weather up there. Very well equipped and modern kitchen (,actually two kitchens). Multiple bathrooms and toilets, so no queues to them. The house was probably still a bit under renovation, so it might still improve : ) .

Distance to the Titlis valley cabin station and the village is about the same. It was easy to walk with snowboard or small shopping bags. About 10-15 minutes of walk depending on how fast you walk. To get to the house by foot some uphill walk or quite long stairs. So when more stuff to carry a spacious cab cost 15 francs between the house and the Titlis valley station or the village center. By ski bus you can get close to the house, but you still need to walk the stairs or the uphill.

And last but not least the owners were really friendly and exceptionally helpful people. They helped us with many things as they lived upstairs during our stay. So they were easy to reach but did not disturb us at all by staying in the same house.

We were really satisfied with this accommodation.
