Vi hade en del otur, men allt löste sig på bästa sätt, inte minst tack vare Antonios hjälp.
När vi ankom till flygplatsen i Palermo visade det sig att vi var tvungna att ta en taxi en bra bit för att komma till biluthyrningsstället (aldrig mer Holliday autos!) vilket innebar att vi blev kraftigt försenade, men Antonios assistent, Stephan, väntade vid villan när vi kom mitt i natten och visade och instruerade allt i huset tålmodigt för oss trötta turister..
Dag 2 vart det stopp i avloppet i badrummet, Antonio ordnade så att vi kunde använda badrummet i det lilla uthuset, tills rörmockaren hade löst problemet hjälpligt.
Myggen har plågat oss en del och när vi väl insåg vikten av att noggrant försvara oss med myggmedel och stängda myggnätsdörrar, var vi redan illa bitna.
Vi har haft stor nytta av svärmor Birgittas italienska kunskaper, det är inte många som talar engelska på Sicilien.

Bortsett ifrån detta har vårt första möte med Sicilien varit över all förväntan!

Alla vi mött har varit vänliga och tillmötesgående, naturen är dramastisk och vacker (synd att inte sophanteringen sköts bättre, dock)

Siciliens historia och alla lämningar är en skatt att upptäcka för alla med minsta historieintresse (vi besökte lämningarna av den antika staden Solunto vid St Flavia, som påminner lite om Pompeiji, katakomberna i Palermo var en stark upplevelse, och katedralen i Mongerbino).

Maten och råvarorna är av hög kvalitet, vi kan rekommendera att handla fisk direkt av fiskarna i hamnen i Porticello, kött och ostar köps med fördel vid den manuella disken i butiken, eller i speciella butiker, prova gärna sicilanska kakor och missa inte glassen. De sicilanska vinerna var också bra.

Mest av allt saknar vi utsikten från villan (och trädgården!), som är svårslagen. Vi hade gott kunnat spendera hela veckan (om bara vädret tillåtit) på terassen med utsikt över havet..

Tack Antonio för den fina veckan vi fick i ditt vackra hus! Vi kommer gärna tillbaka, och kan varmt rekommendera alla att hyra villa Laura-Marie.

One of the most beautiful villas we have ever stayed at. It is like living on a boat, with stunning views of the sea and Capo Zafferano right off your terrace. Stone paths and steps take you right down to the rocky coast and crashing waves below. Nearby towns and cities, including Palermo, provide restaurants, theatres, and anything else you could want. Hosts Debbie and Antonio are warm and friendly, and are very caring and helpful in making your stay in their home and their towns and cities as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We look forward to another stay there soon.

Already from the above title you may understand how much we like the place!
The first time (last year), everything was new and, of course, this was taking a great part in our impression of the place.
But this year it was even better!
It was like coming back home ....and with the pleasant surprise to see that evrything was in a great shape and also the suggested improvements, were made!
What can I say more.....It remains a wonderful place were to spend a nice and relaxing time and with the safety that whatever you need Antonio & Deborah are there....ready to help you.
It comes by itself that next summer I hope to be there again....and after all my daughters will never forgive me if we don't go again!

We had a very pleasant stay. The house has everything you need, it is well equipped and clean. It is easy to go for a swim (you only have to take care when you go down the stairs) and the sea is warm and beautiful to dive and look at the fish.
The view is spectacular and sometimes you wonder why you should leave the house. The garden is also very beautiful.
It is that Sicily has so much things to see, otherwise you could stay in this house, sit in a chair, read a book, look and the sea, and do nothing.

Two things you should be aware of:
Your cellphone does not work all the time and at dawn you need mosquito spray in Summer.

The house is spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It very well equipped for cooking at home and the Internet connection is very good.

The views from the large terrace are breathtaking, whatever the weather. Centrally located to view lots of Sicily sights. We easily visited Palermo, Agrigento, San Vito Lo Capo, Erice, Enna, Cefalu. But also the area around the house has plenty to offer. The hills up behind the house are well worth exploring and Solunto is simply fascinating and is just down the road.

Debbie and Antonio were extremely thoughtful and helpful. All in all this was one of our best holidays ever. We would highly recommend the villa.

We have just returned from 3 amazing weeks in Sicily.We cannot overstate the comfort and enjoyment we experienced by staying at Villa Lauramarie. The home was immaculate,had the most amazing views of the sea and had everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.If, like us, a vacation is for "R&R",this rental is ideal.Bring a book or two and read in the wonderful gardens or down by the sea,the villa provides both.You will not find a more serene location.The only noise you hear is the crash of the surf or the putt-putt of the fishing boats just offshore.The lack of satellite TV was not a big problem for us.There were plenty of activities to keep us busy.(bring some DVD's for the children).The cleaning staff was happy to do our laundry for us as part of their duties,so the lack of access to the laundry was not an issue,just ask! Take advantage of the local color.Porticello is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon having lunch at Francu u Piscaturi...we had that pleasure 5 times during our stay.Bagheria is a pleasant city with every possible food stuff available for those that choose to cook at the Villa.The Villa is stocked with all the necessary tools to adequately prepare any meal you might want to whip up.If you are looking for fancy silver and porcelain dinnerware, this is not your rental.We would rather not worry about replacing broken china or ruined utensils.But that is just us. Antonio and Debbie could not have been more accommodating...Antonio met us at the Villa at a time that was convenient for us, and he took the time to explain all the features of the home.He and Debbie phoned us several times during our stay to inquire as to our comfort and if we lacked any items that would make our stay more pleasant...we had a wonderful dinner with them as well and they asked us for input to better the rental experience.The lack of a second bathroom was the only shortcoming of the Villa.Okay for a family but a little difficult for more than one couple.They also called to let us know when to expect the cleaning staff and garderner.When we return to Sicily, we most certainly will stay at Villa Lauramarie. It is close to the autostrada (10 minutes at most), a short drive to a good market in S. Flavia and within 1-2 hours drive of most historical sites and major cities.There are many bakeries, vegetable stands, meat and fish markets close by and the drive to Palermo on SS113 is a real experience.Overall just amazing! Highly recommended!!

If you pay top money to rent somewhere you might reasonably expect more than the following:

3 1/4 of one roll of toilet paper on arrival
No soap whatsoever
Kitchen utensils generally cheap quality
No Kettle - had to use a saucepan and oven gloves
Low standard cooker. No grill. Must use matches to light oven...No matches provided, so evening meal spoilt.
1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 face cloth inadequate for 1 weeks showering, swimming and sunbathing(we used a towel to protect the cushions). We couldn't wash them as there was "apparently" no washing machine...see laundry charge below
Tables and chairs everywhere but only 2 chair cushions?
Only 2 sunbed cushions - torn and mildewed.
TV not working.
Outside shower broken.
Barbecue rusted. Wire brush for BBq so rusted it was not useable.

You need protective water shoes to cross the sharp rocks below the property if you want to swim (we didn't know that), assuming the waves were not too high or the stinging jellyfish weren't around.

Paying extra to launder 2 sheets and 4 towels when there was a washing machine in the kitchen...locked in a cupboard so that you couldn't use it!
If required a maid could be arranged by the hour... The charge for final cleaning equated to a cleaner for 10 1/2 hours!

Finally…being kept waiting on the day of check-out for more than an hour past the time agreed on the phone that morning because the owner wanted to stop for a coffee and croissant!

The view was really nice though.

We loved this house from the first sign when we saw it 2 years ago and it was our dream to return back here some day. We made our dream came true this year and we are very happy we did it. This home is a true haven, it has its own character, very stylishly but simply decorated with every amenity that you could possibly need The house consists of 3 bedrooms and could accomodate 5 people. All rooms are stylishly designed and fitted out with lovely linens and decorations. It has living area equipped with TV’s and DVD; kitchen and dining area, but for us the most important and favorite place was a terrace with outstanding sea view! The terrace was the place where we spend most of the time - it is a prefect place for breakfasts & dinners with breathtaking views, sunbathe our lounging in the evenings.There are also steps leading down to the sea! The villa is surrounded with garden plants and trees.
This villa is perfect for a family, couples or a group of friends but please note that You will need a car..
You could spend here all your stay just relaxing or visit other places in Sicily and you will be lucky to return back at villa as at home.
The villa is very private and the area is quiet, towns nearby are absolutely non-turistic – and we enjoyed it very much! You can go to supermarket in Porticello or Bagheria - both 5-7 mins drive away in different directions. You can buy everything you want for your delicious dinner and local wine ( really nice wine), fruts and vegetables you can buy on fruit stands in the village. Early in the morning you can visit fish market in one of nearby villages were you can buy fresh fish & shrimps..
So, yes, I absolutely recommend this this villa to all and hope that I could return here again...
