Great views from sun terrace: Loxley Lodge is a privately owned holiday cottage in St Ann's Chapel, near Callington. The lodge is situated in the beautiful Tamar Valley backing onto National Trust land. If you are lucky it is possible to see deer running free in the field and buzzards flying over head. We are ideally situated on the Cornwall/Devon border which has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Positioned within 30 acres of woodland, and with Dartmoor and Bodmin in close proximity, you could not wish for a better base in which to enjoy your holiday. It is the ideal location for a 360° tour of Cornwall and Devon. With over 300 beaches in Cornwall, you will never be more than 16 miles away from one. Make sure you visit Whitsand Bay - as seen on Cornwall with Caroline Quentin and treat yourself to a great meal at The View restaurant.

Cornwall is one of the most diverse counties in the UK, you will always find something to do and something to see. Why not come and visit the Goose fair in nearby Tavistock in October or learn about the mining heritage at nearby Morwellham Quay.

With many wonderful tourist attractions near the park, you can rest assured that you will never be at a loss for things to do. Within a short distance from the lodge is the famous pannier market town of Tavistock and bustling city of Plymouth. No visit to Cornwall is complete without taking a trip to The Eden Project or The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Why not venture to the north or south coasts to explore their diverse coastlines and attractive towns? Or perhaps you would prefer to walk or cycle and take in the breathtaking scenery? From sports activities and tourist attractions to site seeing, there's something here for everyone. Loxley Lodge is a good base to stay when visiting cadets at the Torpoint / Plymouth Navel academy.

The Tamar Valley is a true hidden treasure - you have to see it to love it ! With Cotehele (NT) so near - a walk along the Tamar River to Calstock is a must. If you have never seen the amazing Christmas garland at Cotehele as featured on 'The one show' then put it on your list (December).

During your stay at Loxley Lodge, we would be delighted to offer you a complimentary, temporary membership pass for China Fleet Spa resort in Saltash (based on 4 adults and 8 children - any additional adults can go as guests). The resort is nearby and you may use any of their facilities, including the 18 hole golf course and driving range, 25 meter Swimming pool, sauna / jacuzzi and steam room, on a discounted 'pay as you play' basis. Check out the new Golf simulator (booking required). There are also Children holiday activities for the rainy days.

Within walking distance of the lodge is a Donkey sanctuary with indoor playbarn. Spend the day with the donkeys and see the great work that the park do with these delightfully gentle animals, fun for adults and children alike. You can even adopt one !

Travel over the border into Devon (3 miles) and view the delights of Dartmoor, visit the sights of filming the Stephen Speilberg film WARHORSE (with locations including Haytor, Combestone Tor, Venford Reservoir, Meavy and Sheepstor)

Free WIFI available in the Manor house, where you can enjoy a drink and a meal.

Devon and Cornwall has always been a favourite holiday destination for us and so in 2009 we decided to buy our own little piece of it. Since we have done so we have visited the area regularly and are always amazed at how many new places we discover. Being so near to the border with Devon we have the best of both worlds while being situated in one of the most unspoilt areas of Cornwall. We have been taking cottage holidays for the past 20 years and have often found things missing, we have attempted to add those things into our holiday home for our own enjoyment and that of our guests. We hope that you will enjoy our little piece of Cornwall as much as we do.

Robin and Dee Fry purchased this house in 2009

Loxley is a lovely property which is very adaptable for most needs. With a bathroom/shower room on each floor it is a perfect property for large families and 2 families travelling together. Similarly, it can be an intimate location for couples to enjoy all that the Tamar Valley has to offer. It is very well equipped for most needs and is handy for travel in all directions. If you have never stayed in the Tamar Valley now is the time to visit.

We love visiting our little part of Cornwall as It is adaptable with spectacular views over the valley towards Dartmoor. There is something here for everyone. We allow dogs at no extra charge (must have had their jabs please). Enjoy a glass of wine while sitting on the sun deck enjoying the spectacular views.

*** Loxley Lodge is only 25 minutes drive from Torpoint - so if you are looking for a place to stay while visitng your relatives at the Royal Naval bases of HMS Raleigh or HMS Vivid - this is the perfect choice. Also suitable for HMS Drake via the bridge / ferry. ***

We enjoyed our stay in Loxley Lodge. The property was well equipped - plenty of crockery etc. Perhaps a little more storage space in the kitchen for food/drinks but we managed perfectly fine. Plenty of seating and a great patio area for warmer times. Loxley Lodge has one of the best positions on the Holiday complex.

Overall excellent and would probably stay again in the future.
Owner's Response: Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, we were so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that you would like to come back in the future. We do indeed have a very enviable position, the views never cease to take our breath away. Look forward to hearing from you again. Best regards Dee and Robin

Our Stay at Loxley Lodge

Very comfortable well equipped house which generally suited our needs. We would not normally have booked on a holiday park like this but it was fine. If there were any issues, finding a place to walk to and walk the dogs was difficult for my elderly parents. Also, too many nice ornaments within reach of our young children. Overall, a lovely stay, thanks.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review our holiday home, we are so pleased that you have enjoyed your stay with us, and it was nice that you gave this area a chance. I was interested to read your comments about dog walking as there are so many lovely walks nearby with amazing views across the valley, one of which is just behind the lodge. The area in general is very dog friendly, however, i do appreciate that your parents were elderly so this may have been an issue with it being in a valley ? We hope that they were comfortable in the ground floor bedrooms however. i was also happy to read that you liked the ornaments and the additional personal touches that we have put into Loxley, most of them child proof but some of them were bought for their looks rather than their practicality so thank you for ensuring none were broken. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes Dee & Robin

Fantastic place to stay, everything you need has been thought of, even a nice welcome pack even included something for the dog. Loads of information leaflets so we could plan what we would like to see, even with that the owners gave us some great ideas. Will be going again.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, we are so pleased to read that you had a good time. There is so much to see in Cornwall - we are still finding places to explore each time we go. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.

As soon as we walked in it was like home from home, warm cosy and comfortable.

The welcome pack was a welcome sight after 4 hours travelling. Ted our dog really appreciated his treats - thank you for a lovely relaxing walking holiday. One day drizzle but other than that fab weather. Many thanks

There were six of us who stayed in this lodge and we all would definately return. Plenty of room for six adults, very nicely decorated throughout. Two good size double bedrooms, one very large twin room and even kids room. We were surprised on arrival when we found a lovely basket full of goodies and to get our food tesco was only 5 minutes up the road. We visited Looe, Polperro, Tavistock, Tintagel an finally Sibleyback Lake where we had great fun Canoeing and Kayaking. Finally we would like to thank you for such great facilities we will definately be returning.

I recently stayed in loxley Lodge with my husband, baby and Bernese mountain dog. The lodge was beautifully presented, truely home from home. The owners must be more trusting than me! The lodge was well equipped, lovely and warm and deceptively spacious. And so so quiet!
The surrounding area is beautiful with so much to do. The membership to China Fleet is a great treat and worth a visit!
Thank you so much for a fantastic honeymoon and thank you for the week long March sunshine! Jen and family x
