Escape in picturesque Grandmont!

We spent a month at Grandmont Gites. Our traditional French gite was clean, comfortable, well appointed and beautifully presented. Our gite came complete with traditional exposed stone walls, woodburner for baking camembert, exposed timber beamed ceilings and was the idyllic setting for a relaxing break. As well as having all the rustic charm of a traditional French Gite our accommodation boasted all mod cons, plenty of kitchen utensils, iron, washing machine, wifi, radiators, television, access to a selection of DVD's, Sky T.V upon request. When we booked our Gite we could not have asked for anything more picture perfect and idyllic. Set in the heart of Grandmont a small village outside of Ambazac (about 20 minutes from Limoges, the nearest city) our gite looked out onto blossom tress, behind the property was a large garden with swimming pool, picnic bench and BBQ for those warm summer nights, next door to our gite is where the horses stables were, where our new found friends Freddie, Marmalade, Benjie & Monty the donkey lived. We went out horse riding through the woods and loved it!
Grandmont is the most glorious setting, you can walk for miles without seeing another soul, if you listen carefully all you can hear is the sounds of birds tweeting, when you do pass a person in the street they will always exchange pleasantries and there is an abundance of space to roam around in freely. You can walk in the woods, go fresh water swimming in one of the many lakes, cycle through the endless hills and enjoy the fresh air.
Having arrived from London tired and ready for a rest we were shown around by our lovely hosts (Tony, Caroline & Katie). We were instantly made to feel at home. Our hosts were the most incredibly kind, generous, friendly and welcoming people. We loved every minute of our stay and we're super keen to return to Grandmont for a future trip.
We had a very memorable spring break. Special thanks to Tony, Caroline & Katie. I could not recommend Grandmont Gites highly enough.

Perfect days in Limousin

We are a family with two children (8+15). It was a absolut perfect holiday at Grandmont Gites. The reasons for that are: very friendly hosts with Tony and Caroline. The flat was superb, clean and well equipped. The gardens and specially the pool are at it´s best. The recreation room equipped with X-Box and Wi and a lot of games was a big surprise for the kids. We enjoyed horseriding with Caroline and Katie, doing this in the wild nature is a special adventure. I took my Enduro Motocycle with me, riding in the forrest on so many single tracks was a indescribable. I hve to repeat this next year. In the surroundings are so many things to watch or to do that it´s unpossible do to this in one stay there, so we will come back next year.

Fantastic Holiday spent here!

We are a family of 5 with 3 children 6,8 and 12 and we stayed at this accomodation in July 2011. We have had many holidays staying in Gites in France over the years, and this one does excel itself. Its very spacious, clean and modernly decorated. This has been the only gite where a welcome pack was included (bread, butter, milk, etc) and also had things you may only need once and don't really want to buy like tin foil, straws, etc. In the kitchen there also is more than enough plates, bowls, cuttlery, knives, utensils, etc, in previous gites we have found this to be a problem, but not here.
Outside the heated pool is fantastic day and night with lots of garden space for activities such as badminton and table tennis (a table is included with bats and balls). Also, there is a barn which has numerous bicycles, enough for everyone where you cycle through the acres of lovely woodland that surrounds Grandmont. The horses that are also situated in the barn give an alternative activity, which we found the kids thoroughly enjoyed after their first rides with Caroline.
The Gite itself is situated in such a convenient place, near enough to the large city of Limoges but far enough to be in a rural village in the country. Amenities such as supermarkets, cafes, doctors are only a couple of miles away in the nearest town of Ambazac.
On arrival after a long journey we prebooked some delicious home made meals. This was served at our dining table shortly after arrival.
Tony, Caroline and daughter Katie are such welcoming people, where nothing is too much trouble. Tony has some 'boys toys' (quads and motorbike) which are all part of alternative activities. They also have two very friendly dogs, and cats which are all part of the entertainment.
All in all a fantastic time was had by all which is the reason why we have rebooked for next year!

Fantastic holiday

We, a family from Denmark, had a fantastic holiday in Grandmont Gites. Upon arrival we instantly felt the hospitality of the hosts Caroline and Tony. They made sure during the whole stay that we felt "at home". Our two daughters, (7/9) loved the placed because there were so many things to do. The heated pool - always 28+ degrees, was of course extremely popular. The lovely horses did also provide hours of walks in the beautiful surroundings where you pass several lakes - our kids really appreciated these rides. Caroline was so helpful to show us some "routes" and prepared us for rides on our own. Grandmont Gites also have more "members" - two lovely dogs and several cats who all, if you want, can entertain the whole family like they were your own.
Grandmont is situated very close to Ambazac, where you find all the things you need: Carrafour, several really good backeries, good local restaurants etc.
If you like to vist a larger city, Limoges is just 25 min away and here you find really good shopping possibilities, a nice old city center "little Paris" and good restaurants.
All in all, we can only strongly recommend this place not least because the owners are lovely people who are trying their best to make your holiday one to remember.

We stayed here whilst house hunting and found it to be a fantastic base for us, close to a main autoroute, and is within easy reach of local shops and Limoges.
Tony and Caroline are very friendly and have a wealth of knowledge to offer whether house hunting like us or if you are on holiday.
We would recommend Grandmont Gites as one of the very best in the area.
The number of returning guests we have seen whilst staying here tells its own story.
Excellent, 5 stars and loved every minute!

Superb surroundings and hospitality

Tony and Caroline are very lovely hosts in this delightful gite surrounded by quiet and beautiful countryside.
The welcoming meal was really delicious and a great way to start a relaxing break with a bottle of wine. The pool was great and there were more walks than you could hope to explore in several weeks. - even when we were dragged along by our excited retriever
Would recommned a trip to Limoges, Oradour sur Glane, and the local village bar.
We would really recommend this Gite and hope to return soon

We had a wonderful weeks holiday with the downeys, Everything was 1st class, the properties were very well maintained, and spotlessly clean, lf we needed any advice about anything you only need to ask, nothing is to much trouble, the heated pool is fantastic, we went in august, and we will certainly go back, l would recomend everything about this holiday, you can order home made food which is fab,

Super location for any hikes or rides, quiet area to rest, friendly and easy going owners and neighbours for an authentic stay in the Limousin. We had a really good time even if we were there to work in the area! Thanks again.
