Pleasant setting - not ideal for winter booking

Review Submitted: 25 March 2013 Date of Stay: February 2013
There are two casitas and this review refers to the one furthest up the hill nearest to the owners own home. We visited in February and the unusually cold and wet weather will certainly have influenced our opinion of the accommodation.
The good:
The location is wonderful, just off the narrow Can Figuera road and very close to Port de Soller, but quiet with a peaceful rural feel among the orange and lemon groves and terraced gardens of the owner's house. You can walk to Soller in about an hour and the whole area has a network of beautiful walking trails.
The casita is clean and dry and has all the basic equipment you need as well as small terraces for sitting out when the weather is good.
The bed is large and comfortable.
The person in charge of the let, Christina, is warm and welcoming, very helpful and speaks perfect English.
But you should also know that:
The casita is very small - really only a double bedroom with a tiny kitchen and bathroom.
In dull weather it's a bit gloomy inside as there is not a lot of natural light.
Heat comes from an electric air-conditioner/heater, which is only just adequate in very cold weather and more suited to removing the chill on a cool evening.
In cold, windy weather it is draughty - we resorted to stuffing one window frame with cushions.
Hot water comes from an electric immersion but the tank is so small only a very brief shower is possible and the bathroom has no heater.
The kitchen/dining area is just big enough for a very small table and has all the basics but eating out will be the preferred option unless you are a determined cook.
The casita is a few metres from the owner’s swimming pool and three-storey house which does slightly loom over it and this is not obvious from the website. In our case this was not an issue as they were not in residence, but this close proximity may bother those who are seeking more seclusion.
In summary: A small, clean and basically equipped casita in a lovely location which would make a nice simple base in good weather. However, if you are going at a time of year when bad weather is possible or if you envisage spending a lot of your time here you might be better looking at cosier or more spacious alternatives.

2 Wochen Erholung pur

Review Submitted: 07 October 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012

Owner's Response: We are glad to know you have enjoyed your vacation.
Our best wishes to you both.

Great escape

Cosy but comfy and functional accommodation for two nestling amongst the citrus groves... quiet, beautiful situation, great terrace, friendly owners. It isn't luxury, but it isn't Spartan either... everything you need is there and it just works. Modest walk to Port de Soller and lots of walking, riding or touring opportunities around. I really liked this place and this location, and would come back again and again.

We had a lovely quiet relaxing week in this little house. The description of location and photos are very accurate - it is that beautiful! The facilities are as described, fairly basic but the necessities are there. the weather was glorious all week so all we required from the accommodation was a comfy bed and a good hot shower, both of these were present. If possible shop for basics like water, milk and coffee on way as after a long journey finding a supermarket when you just want to flop on the terrace is not the best way to start.
As this was our first child free holiday contact to back home was important. The Internet connection worked excellently, inside and out, so with a small netbook constant emails, for peace of mind, were easy.
The terrace with candles and a cold beer was bliss in the evenings with sounds of chickens, sheep bells and a strange tooting bird? (which we never did identify!)
The walk down a track through lemon trees was a pleasant evening stroll arriving at the main road and then on down to the port in about 15 - 20 mins. The walk back up the hill with all the night sounds was quite magical - but packing a torch will save falling into ditches after an evening drink! The port is pretty and nicely bustling, just right for eating and watching the sun sink. Many varied restaurants to choose from - all we tried were good. Friendly helpful locals but that may have been because Spain were doing very well in the World Cup at the time!! Great bakery, just into the port by tram track, selling just baked ham and cheese croissants and other wonderful pic-nic fodder. Numerous scenic walks on the doorstep suiting all abilities. Would recommend walking up to the tower on the right side of the bay or a walk going up to the lighthouse on the left.
The beaches at Port Soller were both town type beaches, overlooked from the restaurants and not our choice to lay on or swim from - there is a patch up toward the lighthouse(pointed out to us by the owners)where it is possible to swim off the rocks and is more secluded. We had a car (parking possible right outside cottage) so tended to drive to Deia or Cala san Vicent where the swimming and snorkelling is heavenly.
The owners are close by and helpful if needed but unobtrusive if not.
Be warned - a week is not long enough!!

A tranquil cottage in a beautiful setting

Review Submitted: 12 May 2010 Date of Stay: April 2010
We had a wonderful stay in this simple but clean cottage. Peaceful surroundings but with the town a 10-15 min walk away down a lovely quiet lane. Excellent walking country, and the lively Port de Soller for meals out. Buses to Palma and other places cheap and easy to use. Owners (Jack and Vera) very friendly and helpful on arrival, then left us to enjoy the cottage without further intrusions. Facilities are basic, but if you are after the simple pleasures of life: beautiful surroundings, peace, quiet, and fresh air, this cottage is ideal.

Perfect tranquility

Review Submitted: 22 November 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
we staid at this little authentic cottage mid of october and had some great days there. We needed some rest and a quiet place to stay - this is what we truly got. The cottage has everything one needs and if you like to you can do almost everything by foot. Walking, visiting the harbour, riding the train, lying around...
It was our first visit on Mallorca and we were really suprised by this lovely island. Likely we will come again and will stay there again. For 2 persons it is just perfect if you do not like typical hotel visits.

Simple life, simple pleasures...

Review Submitted: 10 August 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent 3 weeks in July 2009 in this little house in Port Soller. The weather was wonderful- as always on Mallorca, and we found that this little house has absolutely met our needs. It is small, but sufficient for two of us, it has everything that is needed - good bed, air condition (very important in this climate), small kitchen but with all needed utilities and a new fridge. The most important is the surrounding - beautiful valley with lemon orchards, peace and quiet - just the birds and cicadas and sometimes you can even hear a donkey. A Paradise for those who need to unwind.
The Hosts are very friendly and helpful - they gave us a lift on the way there and back, so we didn't have any problems with catching a bus.You can find many book-guides describing many routes that you can take to make your vacation even more interesting!
We didn't have a car - so we decided to walk everyday to the beach and back home - just because we needed something different than our everyday car routine, and it was our daily exercise! It took 20 minutes to get there, and another 20 to get back. During our walks we met a lot of young people on bicycles, because there are so many BEAUTIFUL TRIALS close to this property. Sierra Tramutana - the mountains of Mallorca - are a big challenge for those who have a good condition. We spent every evening on a beautiful little terrace, with a view to the sunset, some candles on the table and on a small wall surrounding it, a glass of vine .....What else could you possibly ask for?

I had a great stay. The cottage reminded me of my first apartment as a student. Missed a microwave and a larger coffee maker would have been nice. As for the location, this was wonderful and the owners are very nice souls.
Internet connection only in certain spots ,mostly outside.
Highly recommended for an alternative crowd.

Owner's Response: The internet is being extended to work inside also.
Microwave oven will be added..
and the coffee maker enlarged..
glad you enjoyed your stay.
