We had a lovely quiet relaxing week in this little house. The description of location and photos are very accurate - it is that beautiful! The facilities are as described, fairly basic but the necessities are there. the weather was glorious all week so all we required from the accommodation was a comfy bed and a good hot shower, both of these were present. If possible shop for basics like water, milk and coffee on way as after a long journey finding a supermarket when you just want to flop on the terrace is not the best way to start.
As this was our first child free holiday contact to back home was important. The Internet connection worked excellently, inside and out, so with a small netbook constant emails, for peace of mind, were easy.
The terrace with candles and a cold beer was bliss in the evenings with sounds of chickens, sheep bells and a strange tooting bird? (which we never did identify!)
The walk down a track through lemon trees was a pleasant evening stroll arriving at the main road and then on down to the port in about 15 - 20 mins. The walk back up the hill with all the night sounds was quite magical - but packing a torch will save falling into ditches after an evening drink! The port is pretty and nicely bustling, just right for eating and watching the sun sink. Many varied restaurants to choose from - all we tried were good. Friendly helpful locals but that may have been because Spain were doing very well in the World Cup at the time!! Great bakery, just into the port by tram track, selling just baked ham and cheese croissants and other wonderful pic-nic fodder. Numerous scenic walks on the doorstep suiting all abilities. Would recommend walking up to the tower on the right side of the bay or a walk going up to the lighthouse on the left.
The beaches at Port Soller were both town type beaches, overlooked from the restaurants and not our choice to lay on or swim from - there is a patch up toward the lighthouse(pointed out to us by the owners)where it is possible to swim off the rocks and is more secluded. We had a car (parking possible right outside cottage) so tended to drive to Deia or Cala san Vicent where the swimming and snorkelling is heavenly.
The owners are close by and helpful if needed but unobtrusive if not.
Be warned - a week is not long enough!!
