Studio 3: is in a very old original building in the old town of Cannes, le Suquet. It is has typical provencal features to this part of the coast - high ceiling with wooden beams, large windows with old glass, shutters. It is on the first floor and therefore easy to get your suitcase up to! Although it is where the life of Cannes centres, it is in a quiet corner overlooking the Eglise de la Misericorde and paved square with trees and fountain. On the other side of the square is the Marche du Forville, the Forville Market and around that all sorts of intimate local bars and delicatessens. It is totally convenient.
I now spend 4 months of the year in Cannes to escape the English winters. So while Worcestershire is labouring in the snow I am sunning myself and soaking up the sea air! It's my other life! I am an artist at home but in Cannes I take a sabbatical as I prefer to be out in the sun and air taking enjoyment in photographing the odd and wonderful scenes and objects I pass on my excursions to use them as inspiration when I return to England.
Studio 3 was purchased on a whim whilst visiting friends who had just bought an apartment in Cannes! I visited for 6 days in December, lunched by the sea in my sun top, took a train along the sea to Monaco and fell in love with the whole area. Instead of getting on the airport bus with a new pair of shoes I took Studio 3 home with me! Several months of renovation took place to enable myself and renters to take many happy memories away with us!
I fell in love with this particular Studio having spotted it in an agent's window in le Suquet just before catching the bus to the airport!! I was shown 2 others but this one did it for me. Authentic, characterful, high provencal planked ceiling, in a quiet corner of the square yet at the heart of the life of this artisan area.
