Guest Comments : ...thanks for your place. It was wonderful. Just perfect for me and my family…It really hit the spot overall...we really unwound and found time for Bar Harbor, the west side of the island, Ellsworth, the lumber jack show, golf, kayaking, whale watching…, hiking in the park….we loved it and hope to return again in the future. Thanks again for making it possible.----

Guest Comments : We just returned from our vacation to Maine a few days ago—wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed Goose Cove Cottage! It was even more than we expected….I don’t think I told you before the trip: my parents’ favorite vacation spot has always been Maine, but because of their age, they haven’t been back to Acadia National Park for over 10 years; so we put together this family trip so my folks could return there, and the cottage turned out to be the perfect spot for us. Thank you—

THE place to stay when going to Acadia!

Words can't properly describe the amazing experience we had when we stayed at the Goose Cove Cottage. Of all the places we've stayed over the years, this place was the cleanest, nicest, and as close to a perfect experience as one can have for lodging. The location is great, you're close enough to explore all of Acadia while far enough away from the crowds. You're only a few minutes from local restaurants and shopping is about a 10-15 minute drive.

The property was dead on perfect. The second we walked in the house, we felt like we were at home. I can't say enough about the property owner as well, she took better care of us before and during our stay than I could have ever imagined. During our week long stay with a 2 year old (this is a great place for kids by the way), we explored the normal "touristy" parts of Acadia as well as some of the other far flung places of the park. The cottage's location made this incredibly easy to do. It was nice being able to come back and cook a nice meal after hiking/chasing a 2 year old around. Bar Harbor is about 20 minutes away, and the main gate for Acadia was about 15 minutes. You'll appreciate the quietness of the cottage being just over the bridge on the other side of Mt. Desert island when you come back from a day of wandering around Bar Harbor when there are cruise ships visiting.

As you can tell, we would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay when going to Acadia. The price is right, and you'll be staying at a place where you can truly relax. We can't wait until we can get back here again, because we know we are guaranteed to have a great trip.

Terrific Maine Rental

We were lucky enough to spend the entire month of April, 2013 in the Goose Cove Cottage. With (3) large bedrooms and (2) baths this rental is anything but a cottage. Maybe it was the fact that we were so busy each day, or maybe it was the comfortable bedding, but we slept like babies each and every night. The living room will comfortably sit (8) adults and has more electronic extras (surround sound, 600+ DVD's and a large wide screen TV) then most homes. If that isn't your forte, how about books, board games or sitting on the outdoor deck listening to birds while enjoying your morning coffee? The kitchen is a chef's delight and includes nothing but the best in equipment-large lobster pots, a margarita making machine, slo-cooker, mixers, cook books and quality pots and pans. If BBQing is your thing, the deck off of the dining room has a professional style BBQ and sitting availability for all. We found the Cottage to be in the perfect location. Close to shopping, lobster pounds, restaurants, the less touristy town of Ellsworth, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park - yet totally secluded. You'll not hear traffic noise or see anything of the neighbors. June has done a fantastic job in providing an A+ home away from home. Our month long stay flew by and we can't honestly come up with a singe negative thing to say. Stay here and you'll not regret your decision. Hopefully some day we'll have the opportunity to return and what better review can be given? We loved it!!! Mike and Jane

This house is truly AMAZING!! First, location is just fantastic. It is very close to the actual town for any conveniences you need. It is close to the park and to mini golf. You can simply grab badminton set or a book and go play in the yard. Surroundings are simply serene - high trees, quiet and restful!

Secondly, the house is equipped with soooo much stuff. I am a type of a person who cooks, and that kitchen is just right for this. If there is something you dreamed of having in your kitchen, visit this one and you will find it :)

The living room has tons of DVDs, board games and WII! It rained for a couple of days while we were here, and yet we didn't stay bored for even a second (Btw, I normally love rain and usually happily run out, but this time I was so interested in trying all the games that I stayed inside.)

Bedrooms are very nice as well (including the actual beds -- they are simply nice and it is very easy to get rested on them).

This house does seem to cost a little more than others, but I didn't regret a single bit that we chose this place. It is truly amazing!

Our stay at Goose Cove Cottage was so relaxing and refreshing. No traffic noise, secluded among trees. We enjoyed so many short trips to beautiful places from our cottage. We found tiny sand dollars on Sand Beach and enjoyed a day in the sun with waves and seagulls. At the Jordan Pond House, located in Acadia National Park, the homemade popovers and strawberry jam were fantastic. We brought fresh lobsters home from a nearby lobster pound that even steamed them for us. A trip up Cadillac Mountain gave us a breathtaking view of Bar Harbor and the surrounding islands. The downtown shops and restaurants were great and after a busy day it was so good to return to our cottage, relax, and put in a movie. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning before heading out to Schoodic Peninsula. One evening, feeling relaxed and a little lazy, we ate delicious, fresh fish followed up with blueberry pie at the nearby Lighthouse Restaurant. We will happily return to Goose Cove Cottage, which has all the amenities of home and much, much more. Next time, we will be sure to bring friends with us.

wonderful home, very convenient, nothing more we could dream of.
nice location, easy to find, spacious garden.
wonderful showers.
the quality of the beds was particularly wonderful.
the spaciousness of the house, too. space to do your own thing.
and the surprise: a great movie collection!
and we found a wonderful gift-package when we arrived which gave us the chance to bake pancakes

we couldn't think of things that could be better, but if we have to- we did think the dining part of the kitchen was a bit crowded

excellent home for enjoying Acadia

We really enjoyed "goose cove cottage". After a long day of enjoying all that Acadia has to offer we knew that returning to this lovely home would be the perfect ending to a day filled with hikes along the shore and through the many trails on Desert island. My wife wanted to take the furniture home with us. The Beds and Recliners were exceptional. My only complaint is that we thought we would be 1 mile from a beach and the beach is actually a half hour away. Overall I'm glad we had such a great place to celebrate our 25th.

Owner's Response: I am delighted that all of my guests have truly enjoyed the quality of this cottage, the peace and quiet of its location, along with the numerous amenities that are provided. One thing, however, does require some clarification. The cottage is within a mile of the ocean. The closest access to shoreline/beach area starts at only 3 miles (5 minutes) away. And, of course, there are many other shoreline/beach access areas scattered all over Mt. Desert Island, Lamoine, and Winter Harbor, with varied driving times depending on location. Since Mt. Desert Island, along with the National Park, is located in the portion of Maine that is noted for its rugged, rocky coastline, it should be stated that there are few sandy beaches to be found in this region. The one most well known is called Sand Beach (and is, in fact, predominantly made up of very finely crushed shell rather than sand). It is located on the Park Loop road well within the Park and is a 20 to 30 minute drive from the cottage, depending on traffic and the visitor’s knowledge of the quickest route to reach it. Since it is located in the National Park, there is no lodging facility located within a mile of it.
