Breathtaking Views and Amazing Experience

This vacation rental was the best place I've ever stayed. The view from the patio was like nothing I've ever seen - heaven! I had everything I needed and more in the apartment. John and Ursula were so nice and helpful too. It was just a short walk into town where there are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. The apartment is walking distance to hiking trails as well. This was an amazing town filled with beauty and was the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. The apartment was clean and comfortable and could not have been a better place to stay. It was a fantastic experience.

We spent five nights in this lovely apartment with the most amazing and relaxing views you could wish for. Quiet and peaceful set above a busy holiday resort that offers something for everyone in a very clean and safe environment. The apartment is well equipped and full of information to help you make the most of your stay. John and Ursula are great hosts and very helpful. If you love the mountains, fresh air and great scenary this is the perfect place for your holiday, it really does have the most stunning of views.

Paradise Found!

My husband and I just returned from a month in Europe which included staying 5 days in Engelberg at Alphaven. It was absolutely fantastic in EVERY way. Staying here was the highlight of our trip. It was a dream come true! The pictures on the website just don't do it justice. It is SO much better! The location is superb! There was a hiking trail right outside our door which led up to Ristis and Brunni. The hiking was beautiful with so many options! 320km of hiking trails all around! The cowbells were tinkling, and you could hear them all around! The restaurants on the mountain tops were a great place to lunch halfway through our hikes!
The apartment has everything you could possibly need. It was spotless, well maintained, and just perfect! Every morning we would have our tea and coffee on the deck enjoying the beautiful panoramic views! Every afternoon after hiking we would go back on the deck to watch the paragliders and then the sunset! We had a bonus with a full moon, which shone through the skylight and the windows, reflecting off the snow on top of the mountains, which made for a beautiful sight!
I would highly recommend Alphaven! Even if you don't hike, the scenery is breathtaking, the town is lovely.
We have travelled extensively in Canada and the US, and this really is without a doubt the best place we've ever stayed!!
The walk down to town only took 15 minutes, where there are shops for groceries, restaurants and a great tourist info, which gives you information on the cable cars and hiking in the area. Mount Titlis is a must see. The first rotating cable car in the world!

What a view!!

Arriving at Alphaven blessed with cloudless skies during what we later found out was the hottest spell of weather in the area since 2003 (30+ degrees on the mountain!)
Staying in Apartment C and being on the top floor has arguably the best view in the place, a view that left us stunned and speechless for at least 30 seconds on stepping onto the balcony for the first time.
The apartment has all that you could possibly need for a week in the Alps, extremely clean and tidy, and well maintained.
Engelberg, Titlis and the other surrounding mountains have plenty to offer in terms of walking (and mountain beer refreshments!) The short trip to Lucerne is also worth making if you have a car or by train if you don't.
I would recommend a stay at Alphaven to friends or family without hesitation, it really is a special place and Engelberg is quite possibly the most beautiful place that I have ever stayed.

Like the Sound of Music

A glorious apartment in an idyllic setting. We took the family and the girls (8&11) loved it. Memories for a lifetime. Cozy comforters, church bells to hear every hour in the day, the gentle klink of cow bells wafting in through the open windows, views of the Alps from all windows. Kitchen well equipped, owner exceptionally friendly. Conveniences of home all available. The only negatives to me: the switchbacks you drive to climb the mountain - a small price to pay for the views. And the 70 steps needed to make it to the top apartment were a nice work out before eating so much chocolate but makes the apartment not very handicap accessible. Unconditionally a superb choice for a vacation, business or pleasure. Easy access to autobahn, short trip to major cities. Have a wonderful time.

World Class Views...beauty in all directions!

We have traveled quite a bit but I doubt if we will ever 'top' Alphaven. Balconies and glass everywhere to take advantage of the amazing snow covered mountains and flower covered valleys and hills. The Alphaven view changes constantly like a Kaleidoscope because of sunlight and weather.
Food prices are costly in Switerzland but with a nice kitchen who cares. Trains are always clean and punctual. Walking up the hill from downtown (about 1000 feet) was daily exercise. You can get a taxi and load it up with groceries as an alternative. The Swiss people were very welcoming and honest (we lost our camera and Iphone and both were returned with a smile).
John was a wonderful host and amazingly creative to build this gem. Ask him about his photography book shot exclusively at Alphaven.

Enchanted Family of 6

We stayed for 4 nights in Apartment C in April 2011 with our 4 children aged 9 to 14. What an enchanting place this is! The view from the apartment is spectacular to say the least. An ever changing, living masterpiece - we found that we spent much of our time in the apartment looking at the view that we never grew tired of. The apartment was immaculately clean, and offered everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The kids loved sleeping up in the loft - a real novelty for them. The use of washing machine and dryer was extremely helpful. The walk up from the town to the apartment was a challenge to say the least, but all added to the experience of staying at Alphaven - and worth it to be rewarded at the end with the view from the apartment of Mt Titlis (next time I think we'll get a car!!). Engelberg itself is a delightful town, with plenty to see and do. The trip up to the snow to Mt Trubsee and Mt Titlis was unforgettable - our 4 children had never seen snow before, so you can imagine their excitement and joy! John is the most helpful host - all questions I had before arrival were answered promptly and with lots of detail, and he was able to provide us with extra information regarding our stay in Engelberg and Switzerland. It was a pleasure to meet you John, and thank you so much for making our stay at Alphaven an enjoyable and memorable one. Our only regret is that we could not stay for longer!! We hope to see you again sometime, and will be sure to recommend Alphaven to anyone heading to Switzerland.

Alphaven is a beautiful home with an unbelievable view. Our family really enjoyed the home as well as the town. We are an active, outdoor oriented family and Engelburg suited us very well. Fantastic opportunity to be outdoors all day, and the view from the home was the icing on the cake. We highly recommend this home and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great apartment, area, and hosts!
We stayed in this apartment only for 3 nights as part of a European road trip and the whole family wanted to stay there longer! The apartment has great views, it is very modern yet typical swiss, the area is really nice, and the hosts are very accomodating and welcoming.
We were there for summer an it was great to go to the snow then :).
