Beachside restaurants are common in Porto Rotondo along the Costa Smeralda, and will provide you with the opportunity to sample the local cuisine without having to lose too much sunbathing time. Seafood is always top of the menu in this part of the world, and you can be sure that the fish of your choice will be some of the freshest you have ever tasted. Bars and cafes are also just minutes away on foot.
If you plan on returning home from Porto Rotondo with a few snapshots of fantastic Sardinian scenery, you can do far worse than take a journey up one of the rocky cliffs that frame the town. The Porto Rotondo province really does have some spectacular beaches, with some of the best of them to be found in the Costa Smeralda area. One great example is the sandy stretch at Porto Taverna (33km), which is just 45 minutes away by car and slightly off the main tourist trail. Like Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo (28km) has a luxury marina and is ideal for a bit of yacht-spotting.

July and August are the hottest months in which to visit Porto Rotondo, with daily high temperatures regularly exceeding 30C at this time of the year. It is worth noting, however, that summer can also be quite humid in Sardinia, and if you are planning a vacation of golf or outdoor pursuits you may prefer to visit in the slightly cooler months of May, June or September.

Porto Rotondo is 19km from Olbia-Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB). The airport can be reached in around two hours from UK destinations such as Birmingham (Ryanair) and London Gatwick (Thomas Cook Airlines), and the drive from airport to accommodation (and vice-versa) should take around half an hour on a good day.
