Poipu is on the south coast of the “Garden Isle” of Kauai. It is one of the most popular destinations as it has excellent beaches which make it a great choice for family holiday rentals. Poipu offers some of the best swimming, sunbathing and watersports on the island. It is also sunnier than the north coast and has slightly less rainfall. Poipu has many shops and restaurants and plenty of attractions nearby. Kauai is popular for weddings as it has some wonderful scenery, and is a romantic honeymoon destination.

Poipu has several excellent beaches which, as well as being stunning beautiful, provide safe swimming and bathing. There are many watersports offered on Poipu Beach including jet skis, windsurfing and surfboarding. Kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling and deep sea fishing can all be enjoyed in almost guaranteed sunshine at Poipu.
One of the best ways to appreciate the stunning scenery of Kauai is by helicopter. It can soar over the rugged peaks and deep valleys showing all the island’s natural sights in one exciting trip.
This beautiful state park offers some of the best natural sights on Kauai. With lush tropical greenery, several impressive waterfalls and the Fern Grotto, the island’s #1 tourist attraction which is reached on a short boat trip.
Although Kauai is a small island it is home to the huge Waimea Canyon, known as the “Grand Canyon of Hawaii”, although it is not quite as long! Enjoy walking the trails along the rim of the canyon although the terrain is fairly strenuous.
As Kauai is known as the “Garden Isle” a trip to one of the Botanical Gardens is a great way to appreciate the exotic flowers and lush greenery which thrives here. Kauai is well known for its year-round tropical warmth. Temperatures range between 78-85°F (26-29°C) from winter to summer although Poipu does have a little rain each month from October to March which falls as short heavy showers. The mountainous inland region has heavy rainfall throughout the year.
The nearest Kauai airport to your holiday home in Poipu is Lihu’e airport which receives both inter-island and overseas flights. It is approximately 34 miles from Wailua. Honolulu International airport is on the nearby island of Honolulu so a connecting flight to Kauai would be needed.
