The french town of Marigot is the perfect place for picking up some tax-free bargains in its exclusive shops. Jewellery, fashions and designer goods are all available, along with some excellent french-inspired cuisine at the local restaurants and bakeries. The best views of St Maarten can be enjoyed from the top of Pic du Paradis, which is 1400 feet (427m) above sea level. Other attractions include the Butterfly Farm near Orient Bay which has hundreds of exotic butterflies in the beautifully maintained tropical garden setting. Philipsburg, the Dutch capital, is also worth visiting for its pedestrianized shopping streets, old church and Dutch architecture. It is just 12km from your Pointe Pirouette holiday rental.

As with most Caribbean islands, St Maarten has a warm climate all year round. Temperatures are a pleasant 29-32°C (84-89°F). The islands receive slightly more rain in October and November, but this only amounts to a couple of inches per month and will certainly not spoil your St Maarten holiday villa vacation.
