Places to visit near Placida, Florida Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum
This one storey lighthouse building was once the home of the local lighthouse keeper and his family but now houses an interesting local museum.

A trip to Cayo Costa offers a relaxing and beautiful day trip. This lovely state park and beach is just a short boat or ferry ride from your Placida vacation villa. It is a mecca for shellers and is the place to pick up coveted spotted junonia shells, cockles, sand dollars and other sea treasures.
Museum of the Islands
Located on nearby Pine Island, this interesting museum includes a large wall mural which depicts a typical native Indian Calusa village. Archaeologist Frank Cushing made some outstanding discoveries of Calusa art, pottery and shell tools which now make up many of the fascinating local artifacts. There is also an interesting shell collection and a large beaded tapestry of George Washington which was rescued from the Pheil Hotel.
