The small commune of Pergine Valdarno is 50km southeast of Florence and 15km west of Arezzo, in the popular region of Tuscany. The village has just over 3,000 residents but other villages are within the municipality. It is in the scenic Upper Valdarno Valley, close to the Arno River and is surrounded by valleys and woods.
Pergine Valdarno has a number of important monuments within the town. The Church of St Michael Archangel and St Mary's Church in Vallelunga are both worth visiting. There is an interesting local Museum of Industrial Archaeology.

It has a magnificent 12th century Duomo, with ornate architectural decoration and the baptismal font has decorations by Donatello. The shell-shaped town square has many wonderful buildings to explore and is best known for its Palio horse races which take place on July 2nd and August 16th each year.
