Pankow is a lively, bohemian district on the northernmost edge of Berlin. With wide airy streets lined with chic cafes and quaint restaurants, the streets of Pankow could easily be found in the finer parts of Paris. It is a real favourite with those that know Berlin well, and is an especially good district in which to rent a Berlin apartment for anyone wishing to explore the city at a leisurely pace.
Many visitors to Pankow holiday here so as to not do much at all! Pankow is the “trendy” sector of the city, where long cups of coffee and leisurely lunches are the order of the day. There are almost endless terrace cafes and little restaurants to explore. Shopping in the many quality little boutique shops is also a very popular activity, and in the evenings, the bars spill happy people into the warm, clean streets.
If you would like to explore the main attractions of Berlin, the U-Bahn takes you directly into the city centre in around 10 minutes. The world-famous sites and attractions of Berlin-Mitte, including Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz are very easily explored during a Pankow holiday.
Berlin is a popular destination year-round. The summer months are the most popular time to take a self catering Berlin apartment, especially from June until August. A fantastic time to visit is May or September, as the good weather remains, yet most of the tourist crowds have gone, leaving you to roam the streets without the tourists!
Berlin’s Tagel Airport (TXL) is the closest to a self catering Pankow apartment or townhouse. There are regular flights arriving from London Heathrow. If London Heathrow (LHR) is not a convenient departure point from the UK, Berlin’s Schonefeld Airport, on the other side of the city, receives a huge range of flights from eight British airports located across the country.
