The apartment is 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, fully equipped (fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer….) with a huge terrace all around the apartment (U-shape) This stylish apartment right in the middle of city, just of the Oxford street and close to the Holborn station (2 minutes walk), makes it also glamorous accommodation for families or/and business; whereas the well known and loved tourist sights like Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, British Museum, Big Ben, National Gallery and many other are within a easy short walk for the visiting tourist! For the enthusiastic shopper Oxford street and all the glamorous or budget shops! You simply cannot find larger 3 bedroom apartment more centrally for such a price. This is most convenient if you want to avoid public transport and want to explore the city on foot. The apartment is on the 5th floor with lift of the beautiful refurbished building of Covent Garden. Building has got very high security which would be very difficult to find in London. Convenient for older visitors as the apartment is close enough to get home when tired or in need of a nap; everything within a short walking distance! The size of the apartment is 105 m2, it is a 5th floor with the lift. Apartment could accommodate up to 7 people.
I have to start by thanking Martin profusely for helping us out of a large problem when our original apartment was unavailable due to a fire within 1 week of arriving! Martin was unbelievably accommodating and sorted it all out well in time to settle our concerns. This apartment turned out to be much more suitable to our needs than the original one. It is a fantastic place to stay in London - within walking distance to tube station, Covent Garden and Theatres etc. The apartment is spacious and extremely well equipped with everything you could want or need. There is only 1 bathroom but we didn't find this a problem and there were 5 of us. Martin met us and explained everything well and there is a lot of information on everything to see and do in London. We found many wonderful places to eat and drink close by as well as enjoying the huge terrace which is a great bonus..
I would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone needing to sleep 4 - 5 people and would happily recommend renting any apartment off Martin for the professional and friendly service he provided. Thanks again Martin - see you next time. Jenny Evans
There are two very big positives about this flat and only one minor negative. The biggest positive is the location. It is right next to Holburn tube and walking distance to most West End theatres. Lots of shops, pubs, restos, etc. right at your door. Flat is quiet, comfortable and right in the middle of town. The other positive is Martin. Before, during and after our stay, he was extremely responsive as a landlord. One minor negative is that the flat has only one bathroom, even though it is three bedrooms. Overall, it is a fantastic experience renting from Martin.
This was the first time that I family booked a property outside of the United States, so we were a little nervous-- but the owner, Martin made us feel very comfortable. The process of booking the apartment went very smoothly. Once we had arrived the owner met us and gave us a tour of the apartment and all information that we needed to know. Everything went perfect. The Spaghetti House Restaurant right outside the door had excellent food and terrific service for us anytime we came back and didn't want to cook. We did cook a British Turkey for christmas dinner in the kitchen that came out very well. The property is very clean and well maintained. We have 5 children so the apartment was perfect because of no neighbors below the flat. We didn't have to worry about noise. The apartment is in a perfect location for anyone to walk, take a bus or use the underground. Everything was there. We enjoyed everything London had to offer. The children loved The British Museum (2 block away), Baker Street, shopping on Oxford Street and attending the theater. We walked to Trafalgar Square and to went to the National Gallery. I highly recommend this property for any family who wants to explore London. We have recommend this apartment to our friends who are thinking of staying in London.
Just back from Martin's apartment near the British Museum. We stayed there with 2 boys and a girl (teens) who spent every spare minute at the British Museum, a couple of minutes walk from the museum.
We really loved the apartment. It's spacious, full of light, beautifully designed. Clearly attention has been given to the little things too. The boys stayed in the room at the end of the hall, we had the double bedroom in the middle and our daughter stayed at the single bedroom. Kitchen had everything we could hope to find and more (like oil, spices, coffee, tea, sugar and even dishwasher and laundry soap).
The building is an office building and this apartment used to be for the caretaker. Now it's a preserved property. Being an office building it's quiet both during the day and the evening. Only noise you hear at night is regular street noise, some of the pub noise downstairs, but this doesn't really disturb at there's double glazing in the bedrooms.
Note, though, that this area is mainly offices. Not residential. We loved it since it's not the kind of deserted industrial area. You've got several cafes downstairs open from breakfast till evening, then you've got the pub and the Italian restaurant also drawing publics. So it doesn't get spooky-quiet....
It was the perfect location for us as we were specifically looking for a place as close as possible to the British Museum. We also wanted to be close to the Covent Garden area. So we were about 2-3 mins from the British and about 10-12 mins from Covent, depends on the route we took. 5 mins from Seven Dials. Around 20 mins to Oxford St. 2 mins to Holborn tube (central and Piccadilly lines, we used the tube to get from and to Heathrow). Across from the tube there's a supermarket - Sainsbury and Boots (pharmacy).
In short, we loved it.
One remark though: we had a problem paying with Paypal when we discovered that the paypal merchant fees are reversed on us (contract) and the fees are HIGH. So the host was kind enough to refund our paypal payment and we paid with a bank transfer. No hassle really.
The Vernon House apartment was just as described in the listing, perfectly clean and comfortable with plenty of space and privacy for our family of four. The amenities were wonderful (loved having laundry, a dishwasher, and a well-equipped kitchen with some basics already on hand--not to mention umbrellas for our use, plus maps and helpful tips on things to do). The location could not have been better for exploring the city and there was more charm in the immediate neighborhood than we had expected, with a few new places just opened on Sicilian Ave itself. (Highly recommend coffee from the brand-new Free State Coffee and the baked goods from The Orchard vegetarian eatery just downstairs.) Martin was very helpful and everything about the rental ran smoothly. We found it a bit noisy on the Saturday night with a club apparently nearby, but that problem was easily solved with earplugs and other nights were much quieter. We were just sorry not to be able to use the terrace more, as it was very cold on our visit, but it is indeed lovely and we hope to return someday in summer when we can take advantage of it!
The apartment was lovely, clean, and in a great location. Grocery and tube station just a block away. Walking distance to restaurants and theaters. Martin was very helpful providing information on both the apartment and the city. He also provided the basics such as laundry detergent, paper products, coffee/tea, etc. which saved us time and money. Having three bedrooms gave our family of four space to spread out after a long day exploring the city. I would highly recommend this apartment and would stay there again.
