Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Lagrasse - The Arch Apartment in Lagrasse
A luxury 1st floor self-catering gîte with air con & en suite shower rooms.
Situated within the walls of the village our house offers visitors a relaxed, peaceful & historic holiday experience.
During loving renovation, the house unveiled many historic secrets associated with the Cathars. With 15 authentic stone arches scattered throughout the property and various 13th century paintings you are sure to feel you have taken a step back in time! However, with all mod cons and a comfortable feel to the living accommodation in the self catering gîte, it is history at its best! With arguably the most spectacular façade in the village, Neuf Rue de Cancans really is a gem nestled within the cobbled streets of a village voted 'One of Frances Prettiest'.
The Arch Apartment so called for its many splendid medieval arches is on the first floor of our 13th century house and has two bedrooms. The Master bedroom (kingsize), so called after the beautiful 3 metre high double Venetian arched window at the foot of the bed, is a light and airy room with a handmade vanity unit and large Italian shower. The garden bedroom, so called for its lovely views over the walled garden from the Juliet balcony, is a large fresh room with twin beds (can be made into a double) and has a unique modern en-suite shower room situated through yet another stone arch. There is a separate WC.
The majestic Venetian window central to the lounge/diner allows the sunlight to flood the room and window seat beneath adds character but also invites languid afternoons of reading. The fully equipped bespoke reclaimed French oak fitted kitchen adds to the charm of this apartment.
One of the few houses within the village walls to have a garden - a little piece of paradise can be found. With its beautiful grassy lawn, 3 BBQ areas, 5 terraces, pétanque area & solar heated secure pool with sun deck, spending time in the garden will be high on your list of priorities!
Cathar Trail: As Lagrasse nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees on the Cathar Trail there is an abundance of historic sightseeing to be done within the region.
Water Sports: Lagrasse has a small river beach which is a fun place to spend time relaxing and excellent for fishing. For those who want more excitement the beaches at Lucate and Port Nouvelle are only half an hour away. Here you can wind surf, water ski, kite surf, book fishing trips, hire boats and go sailing.

Thank you so much for an amazing stay. You guys are so welcoming and helpful. The girls had the best time playing with Chilli and the boys and we enjoyed the wonderful garden. Guy, your amazing craftwork has left us in awe - beautiful scale and built in wardrobes in Arch. can't wait to come back.
We are a couple that originated from Cornwall, where we both grew up in the holiday industry. After careers in the marine industry, super-yachts and economic regeneration we have found our little piece of paradise here in Lagrasse.
After a 5 year and 600 ton renovation, the secrets of the property have been revealed, providing some of the most amazing architecture, sculptures and paintings from the Cathar period.
Supplying plenty of things to see and talk about over a cold glass.
The house is nearly a 1000 years old. It has a unique past and ongoing story that seems to build with every room you walk into.
To much to tell so we will wet your whistle.
Sculptures of the chief knight for the abbey of Lagrasse ( the true location of the Cathar trial).
Painting’s of the battle dating back to the 13th century.
Sculptures dotted throughout the property.
Why not come and see for yourself and join us for one of our legendary BBQs.
