Cala Clara Ground Floor Garden Apartment

I would only recommend booking this accomodation if you can get the top floor apartments which include the rooftop terrace, this is what is pictured on the property description. We stayed in the ground floor apartment which is a far cry from what you might think you are getting based on the pictures provided, I think the agent needs to provide a few more honest pictures of the remaining four apartments to avoid confusion. Our ground floor apartment which had a grassed area left you very exposed to the general public walking past and gawping in at you. There is a Spar shop next door and you get a great view of all their lilos on display, above this shop is a cafe which seems to be open all hours and very busy and their customers get a full view of you sitting on your terrace, which made us feel uncomfortable and we felt that we had no privacy whatsoever. There are a few bushes planted on the boundary and give them another ten years and they might provide a bit of privacy, but in the meantime, I think that the owners should spend a bit of cash and erect some additional screening. The private pool is small but very nice, although again needs some decent screening as it overlooks the unsightly car park and is also overlooked by the kitchen staff in the restaurant next door. There were only four sunbeds provided by the pool which was totally inadequate and a problem during our stay as all apartments were occupied and if one family had the beds in use, that left others with nothing to sit on apart from the concrete floor. Apart from the issues mentioned, the spec of the accomodation is very good and pleasant to stay in, which is why I think if you can book the top floor apartment you couldn't really complain. The other point I would mention is you are not provided with any basic supplies like salt, pepper, olive oil, etc... We always use self catering and usually the basics are supplied on the basis that if you use something up you replace it. We had to buy all the basic items and the two small shops in the area were very expensive. We left our supplies behind and i'm sure others do the same, so I can only presume the maid keeps the leftovers. Perhaps the owners could look at changing this as the small things often make a difference to how you feel about a place.
