About Michael Blend

We chose Kalispell, Montana because it is a great community in which to live, work and play and to raise a family. Our area in the Flathead Valley offers phenomenal recreational opportunities all year round. And since we love the countryside, but still like the idea of a neighborhood, we opted for this rural cluster of homes tucked within a Ponderosa grove. We designed our home to efficiently accommodate our family while conserving on square footage. We were inspired by the concept of an open floor plan, with nooks for study or office work, and bedrooms located in different areas of the house with the common area in the center.

Our love of nature led us to focus on the landscaping with the goal of recreating a cottage-style, flower garden around our manmade pond and cascading creek. We enjoy listening to the birdsong and watching our feathered friends visit the pond. One year, we even had robins nesting in a hanging basket on the front porch!

Now we have approached a time when downsizing makes sense and renting to vacationers helps us stay connected to a very special place!

Michael Blend purchased this house in 2002
Why Michael Blend chose Kalispell

This neighborhood is wonderful because it is just outside of Kalispell far enough to feel in the country, yet it is very convenient to shopping and town activities. We wanted to be on a paved road and have a manageable sized yard and yet the quiet and privacy of a country setting. This location gave us all we were looking for and more.

What makes this house unique

As business owners, we work in town and appreciate the benefits of being close to Kalispell. The people are friendly, the entertainment and arts scene is always interesting, and the dining options are plenty! You may prefer to dine in however, with our fully equipped kitchen which is open to the dining and living areas. This allows the cook to prepare a meal while enjoying the company of others.

We often frequent the local Farmer’s Markets and gather with friends to explore the great outdoors! We also like to walk around the neighborhood and down past the meadow, just so I can hear the Meadowlark sing one last time before retiring for the night.

Review Submitted: 11 September 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012
First impression upon arrival; good location in a very quiet neighbourhood; the house was immaculately clean and well stocked with all cookware and linens; the back yard was impressive and very well maintained with a pond and large grass area. The outdoor patio area near the pond was very pleasant and it was relaxing to sit there, however, during our stay, the evenings were cool and one suggestion would be to add a heat lamp or install a firepit. One other suggestion would be to have plastic drinking cups for children and outdoor use. There were 5 adults, 2 children and one infant in our party, and the house accommodated us all very comfortably and we will certainly recommend this property to any friends or relatives visiting Kalispell and area. The owners are very friendly and helpful. My grandson left a stuffed toy behind and upon contacting the owners, the toy was located and has been mailed back to us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous stay

Review Submitted: 13 August 2012 Date of Stay: August 2012
We stayed in the house towards the end of our Glacier trip. It's perfectly situated and we easily got to Whitefish, Flathead Lake, West Glacier and more. The house itself is even better in real life. Michael and Diana have thought of everything you could need and the house is fully stocked. It's spotless and will exceed all expectations. We spent a day at home just because we wanted to sit in the yard, stargaze, and relax. Three couples or a family will be very comfortable here, the house is set up for privacy and family togetherness at the same time. Michael and Diana are easy to work with and readily available. We want to go back!
Owner's Response: We are impressed that you found time to enjoy our night skies and to relax among the flowers, birds and dragonflies. Thanks for the great review and yes, do come back. It will be our pleasure to accommodate you again at Bird-Watcher's Haven!

The owners did a fantastic job making this our home away from home. The house is nicely decorated and very comfortable. The back yard with the pond and water feature was beautiful. The neighbor hood is very quiet. When we visit Glacier again we will be back. Thank you Diana and Mike :)
Owner's Response: You are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed your stay and exploring Glacier Park!

We loved Bird Watchers Haven

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 26 June 2012 Date of Stay: June 2012
When arriving at Bird Watchers Haven, we were greeted with a beautiful and welcoming front yard and a comfortable front porch with a rocker. Inside we were met with a vase of flowers that were a promise of the lush back yard. The house was immaculate, neat and roomy. There was an office space where one could work (if possible in such a lovely setting) and in the kitchen was everything a gourmet cook could want. Numerous books were there as were games, maps and information on area attractions. The hosts have thought of everything!!!

We did not get to bird watch or enjoy the inviting back yard as much as we would have liked because of the many activities in the area. We spent one day at Big Mountain, one day at Glacier NP, one day at Columbia Flats amusement type activities. Next time, we want to sit around the peaceful pond/waterfall, watch the birds and read.

I would definetly recommond this wonderful property because of it's beauty, peacefulness, and the friendly hosts. Diana and Mike have done a wonderful job. P.S. The photos do not do the property justice.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: We are delighted our first guests found Bird-Watchers Haven to their liking! We hope others will find our vacation home just as comfortable and inviting. Look for our newly updated photos on VRBO. Diana & Michael
