This is a fantastic time to visit Tortola; the weather in the winter and spring months is absolutely superb! The outside living area and the gorgeous tiled pool with its extensive stonework terraced veranda overlook are very private, soothing and picturesque.
Newly constructed and spaciously comfortable, Sage Mountain Villa has three air conditioned bedrooms and three and a half baths. The home is on two levels and is completely screened. This home was created by the well-known BVI architect Michael Arneborg. Integration of architecture, landscape and interior design was his fundamental approach. Michael Arneborg was widely considered to have been the premiere architect of fine family homes on Tortola, in the West Indian style.
Sage Mountain Villa is located on the West End of Tortola, an area that has become one of the most upscale sections of Tortola. Along with yacht chartering and supplying, there is interesting shopping available in Soper's Hole Marina. The West End area has many fine restaurants. The island's most popular beaches are just a short drive; Long Bay Beach, Smuggler’s Cove, Cane Garden and others. The villa has 3000 sq ft. of beautiful living area and is on one half acre of beautifully, tropical landscaped property. Sage Mountain Villa enjoys sweeping ocean vistas and captivating ever changing views of the sea and islands beyond. It is on an elevation of 450 feet and is located in Romney Park. The villa is just minutes from the West End Ferry Terminal. Restaurants are equally close; BananaKeet Café, The Sugar Mill, Long Bay Beachfront Restaurant and new to the area in Little Apple Bay, D' Coalpot BVI to name just a few. For the diving enthusiast, Blue Water Divers at Nanny Cay Marina is a short distance toward Roadtown.
Open and appealing, Sage Mountain Villa entry level has soaring cathedral ceilings, with a grand, attractive great room and dining area. Screened glass sliders open out to the front balcony and the splendid covered West Indian veranda. The well thought out flow of rooms assures privacy and convenience for a vacationing party of up to six.
The spacious fully equipped kitchen is terrific and opens to the veranda pool area. Flowing Quartz counter-tops, dishwasher and an array of modern appliances are in a light and bright setting with a fantastic view of the Sir Frances Drake Channel. A convenient half bath is tucked just around the entry foyer and a full laundry is available adjacent the kitchen. This villa is equipped with a water purification / filtration system.
The air conditioned master bedroom with cathedral ceiling is spacious and airy. It resides on the main level in privacy away from the central activity of the home. Through screened glass sliders, it opens up to the front balcony where picturesque vistas will capture much attention. The ensuite master bath is finished in stone travertine and has an over-sized walk-in shower.
A staircase leads around to the lower level and there are two large, bright air conditioned bedrooms each with an ensuite full bath in stone travertine. Screened glass sliders open out to a glorious colonnade surrounded by a captivating array of colorful floral, Caribbean plantings and more dramatic Vistas. Teak and wicker furniture accented with bright color enhance the Caribbean flair. The home is wired for Wi-Fi, cable TV, an audio system and local phone.
Beautiful with high cathedral ceilings, the inviting covered veranda looks out to the sea and enjoys the fresh trade wind breezes. It is conveniently accessed from the kitchen and living room. Just beyond the veranda is a gorgeous expansive coral stone sun terrace with a sparkling salt water pool system and lounges to help soak up the sun. For the diving enthusiast:
Blue Water Divers is a 5 minute drive up Sir Francis Drake coastal Highway to Nanny Cay boating facility.
They offer a wide range of diving activities. Diving trips to the RMS Rhone, beginner classes and for intermediate and advanced divers, there are trips to numerous beautiful dive sites around Tortola. Their twin hull dive boat is comfortable, smooth riding, easy to climb out of the water and on to and will take a non diving spouse for the excursion.
Thank you so much! Enjoyed the location! Had a wonderful time and could not have chosen a better villa! My husband and I are actually interested in a return trip to Sage Mountain Villa!
We did make it home despite the arctic temperatures in Chicago.
Spectacular setting and beautiful, spacious home in Tortola's West End - easy to access 45 min. ferry from St. Thomas, but secluded from the busy main port of Roadtown. The friendly property manager met us at the ferry with our rental car(s) and lead us to the house to make sure we were settled in. The West End is filled with luxury villas, lovely restaurants and secluded beaches. We stayed for the week of Thanksgiving with our 3 teenage/young adult sons - all who had a memorable experience. This location is perfect for those who like to avoid the "all-inclusive resort" type vacation, and seek to experience the authentic beauty and flavor of the BVI while still feeling pampered and enjoying a luxury vacation. This beautifully appointed home served as the perfect base from which we explored the island. The house was filled with fresh flowers from the gorgeous and abundant gardens that surround the house and the sparkling pool is also lighted at night for after-dinner dips. Furnishings are fine quality, the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and beautiful tabletop items.
We spent one amazing afternoon snorkeling in the hidden-away Brewer's Bay (rent snorkel gear at Blue Water Divers at either Nanny Cay or Sopers Hole). The beach was deserted, and the fish abundant. On another day we zipped through the tree-tops over Roadtown with the Original Virgin Canopy Tour - a fantastic operation run by seasoned pros. Half the adventure is just getting to their base of operations high above Sir Francis Drake channel. Another fantastic day was spent sailing to Virgin Gorda Baths and snorkeling around the sunken Rhone ship with Aristocat Charters (out of either Sopers Hole or Roadtown). But the best part of the trip was lingering around the gorgeous pool at the Villa, enjoying the spectacular sunrise and sunsets from the generous balconies, and appreciating the incredible level of detail that went into the house. You'll find everything you need and more - nothing has been overlooked. Groceries can be bought at the convenience store near the house, or at one of the larger supermarkets on the island. You'll need a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the many hills on the island, but it's all part of the adventure. Thanksgiving dinner at The Sugar Mill on the north side was beautiful and historic; a perfect setting. Everyoneone was warm, inviting, friendly and helpful - can't overstate the quality of this experience; we'll be back!
Sage Mountain Villa was the perfect location for a perfect week in the BVI. The house is spacious and beautifully appointed. Two bedrooms are on the lower level with the master on the main level so we never felt crowded. We spent hours around the pool and cooked several meals at the house. The views to St. John are spectacular as was the night sky since there is far less light pollution here than where we are from in the US. The villa is very close to the West End ferry (which is how we arrived and departed), Road Town, Soper's Hole and Nanny Cay. We picked the absolute perfect week, apparently just after the end of high season. The beaches and restaurants were nearly deserted, we felt like we had the island to ourselves. We traveled around the BVI via ferry and catamaran on multiple day trips (Virgin Gorda, Norman Island, Jost Van Dyke), easy and wonderful. We have high standards in vacation accommodations and Sage Mountain Villa exceeded them in every way. Highly recommend.
Six of us stayed here the beginning of July. It was absolutely fabulous. The house was perfect and perfect for six people. The house is so well equipped. The property manager was very nice to work with. I would say you definitely need a 4 wheel drive to get up the road to the house. That part was certainly an adventure. :)
You will feel blissfully content at Sage Mountain Villa. It is marvellous, incredibly peaceful and private. Everything flows harmoniously, from the lovely channel view from the front of the house to the well-designed and beautifully decorated interior that uses natural materials and subdued tones to great effect. It is extraordinarily well-supplied with beautiful linens, fully-equipped kitchen, lovely dinner and glassware.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary. At first it may seem to be a daunting drive up the hill, but a confident driver will soon become accustomed to the twists and turns and the pitfalls and potholes that should be avoided. One could stay without a vehicle - I walked up and down several times, it was good strenuous exercise, but probably a bit much for small children or the elderly.
We explored most of Tortola, as you can easily do from the villa, nothing is that far. It is a laid-back place. Thankfully, the terrain around the villa precludes the over-development of garish tourist attractions and outsized commercial resorts. It is best for those who love to peacefully experience the natural environment. Sage Mountain National Park is great. Local beaches are fantastic for swimming and snorkelling. We spent a few overcast days just driving around the interior, stopping whenever something looked interesting. A good map is useful to locate roads to secluded beaches, or just ask someone, everyone seems very nice and willing to help. Everywhere we stopped to eat or have a drink provided great food and enchanting surroundings at reasonable prices.
We rented a vehicle from D&D Rentals, who are situated very close to villa road. They were great, easy-going people to deal with, as were the people who manage the villa, particularly Persia and Carmen. In sum, Sage Mountain Villa is enchanting, as is Tortola itself. We could have stayed forever.

Located on the West End of Tortola in Romney Park, it is just minutes from the West End Ferry Terminal where guests can book trips to other neighboring islands; St. John, Jost Van Dyke, and St. Thomas. In addition, it is a short drive to the islands most popular beaches and restaurants.
