Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday home in Pimlico - Central London House, Zone 1
4-star, 4-floor, 6 bedrooms, sleeps 12 - short walk to top tourist attractions

The house is spectacular with 6 bedrooms (great beds!), 2 sitting rooms, kitchen-diner-terrace, conservatory-study, 4 bath/shower/WCs (great showers!) & free wi-fi throughout. The lower ground floor (just one flight of stairs down) has its own kitchenette & walk-in shower, and can be separated off – perhaps for an older couple. Being on four floors, the house works well for larger and smaller groups. There are 5 single beds, 2 king beds (150cm, 5'6' wide), 1 double bed & 2 bed-chairs (in a sitting room). The main rooms have ornate ceilings, chandeliers & working window-shutters yet with every modern convenience: washing machine/dryer, microwaves, dishwasher, hair-dryers, iron, Sky TV, SMART TV (internet access), gas-log open fire, digital radio/sound systems with iPad, iPhoe/MP3 'docks', linen/towels, books, toys, DVDs, cots, highchairs. Outside here’s the terrace plus patio garden and key-access to a nearby ‘gated’ garden square with children’s playground and tennis courts. A great sports centre with public-access gym and swimming pools is 2-min walk.

Quality in Tourism 4-star rating.

We have been advised not to go for a 5-star rating as that involves incredible luxury such as marble bathrooms and antique furniture throughout - and is less comfortable for families.

We keep the house in the best condition, constantly re-painting to remove scuff marks and renewing furniture and accessories regularly.

We pride ourselves on the fact that the house is imaginatively decorated and laid out in such a way that there are great opportunities for privacy, as well as for 'getting together' in larger groups.

The house is suitable, as part of a longer let, for entertaining up to 40 people in a buffet-style reception.

This house is also a great venue for team meetings and other business requirements. The six bedrooms and the (second) sitting room with fold-out furniture means individuals can sleep in 7 separate areas; and there's a great table in the kitchen/dining room for team meetings.(seats 12)

This spectacular house is brilliantly located for special annual London events, including - within WALKING distance - the Chelsea Flower Show , the London marathon (finishing line), the New Year's Day Parade, the Lord Mayor's Procession & Show, the Russian Winter Festival, outdoor skating ,the Chinese New Year celebrations, Trooping of the Colour, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Thames Festival, the Chelsea Antiques fair, the State Opening of Parliament, the London Film Festival, Guy Fawkes Night, the main New Year Celebrations, Christmas Lighting Celebrations.

Within a short tube/bus ride you'll reach the London International Boat Show, the Olympia Fine Art & Antique Fair, Wimbledon, the Holiday and Travel Show, Party in the Park, the Proms, the Covent Garden Festival of Street Theatre, the Notting Hill Carnival - and many others!

About Adrienne Burgess

We are a couple who have worked mainly in the theatre and the arts, although Adrienne is now a writer/researcher specialising in fatherhood and Martin enjoys new-age ideas, while also working in the City of London as a communications coach. We have been renting out properties for almost 40 years (two small apartments originally), and first tried holiday rentals with our country cottage in Churt www.guildford-cottage-surrey.co.uk

Adrienne Burgess purchased this house in 1985
Why Adrienne Burgess chose Pimlico

We purchased our central London home in 1985 and lived there until 2008. The moment we opened the door we loved it. It felt then, and feels now, as if only happy things have happened here - which can't possibly be true, since it's more than 150 years since it was built! We wanted to live right in the heart of London, and you can't get much closer to the heart than this! We also wanted a spacious house, with high ceilings and a sense of generations upon generations of people living there before us And that is exactly what we got! We raised our family here, working from home, so the house has always been busy and full of people - lots of them children. When we left it, to 'downshift' to another part of London, we rejoiced that we didn't have to sell it, and that other people could now enjoy it too.

What makes this house unique

The remarkable thing about 'Pimlico' (the area in which our house is), is that it is quite like a village, and yet it is right in the heart of perhaps the greatest city in the world. Neighbours know each other; our quiet street contains many family houses and has an active residents' association, the people in the shops are friendly, and yet it's cosmopolitan and fast-paced. In Pimlico you can be peaceful, yet never feel that life is passing you by. . .

Perfect, perfect, perfect and wow!

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 01 March 2013 Date of Stay: February 2013
The first words that we all thought of when we walked up to the house were WOW! It looked just like the picture! Every aspect of this beautiful house exceeded our expectations. The house was immaculate and all the rooms were exactly as pictured and described. We were a party of 10 adults- 3 married couples and 4 singles. The bedrooms worked out perfectly and we had more than enough room at the kitchen table. The supplies were more than adequate for our needs. We especially loved that our lovely landlord had stocked our refrigerator with milk & butter and also left us a goodie basket with some bread and cereal & juice and most importantly wine to start our vacation.
The house was superbly located, close to supermarkets, restaurants & pubs! We shopped at Tesco, a 2 minutes’ walk away, and ate at the Thai Cafe and the Constitution Pub, both excellent. We used the underground a few times, but with 10 of us, found it cheaper to go by cab when the distance was too much for walking.

Recommend the Taxi App! We were within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do and the neighborhood felt safe and very quaint. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the gardens and the local area.

Adrienne & Carole were excellent with tons of information ahead of time that helped immensely with our planning. I don't think we had put one minor question! Great job!

I would say, even if you have to stretch your budget a bit, you won't go wrong with this rental. I have rented quite a few places over the past few years, in Rome, Amsterdam, and Washington, DC and this was by far the best yet. You always wonder how close to the description your house will be and paying in advance sometimes can be a bit unnerving. These ladies went beyond in helping me and my 9 other travel companions to feel comfortable with the entire process.

We all hope to be able to return in the future!
Owner's Response: Thank you Debbie for writing such a great review. We know that it takes time to write a review so we are very grateful. We're going to pass it on to our photographer who will be thrilled to know that you feel his photographs truly represent the house. He takes great pride in them - as we all do in every aspect of the letting. We are so luck to have such a great team Come and stay again soon! Kind regards, Adrienne and Carole x

IDEAL!

Review Submitted: 20 February 2013 Date of Stay: January 2013
We loved your home on Tachbrook street - thankyou! So easy and charming; we really needed at least a week to fully enjoy it and your lovely city and hope to be back. The house was perfect, and so well appointed! The kids loved playing throughout all of the different levels and the dining/kitchen area were ideal for our evening meals. The location couldn't have been better.

Review Submitted: 20 February 2013 Date of Stay: December 2012
Thank you for having such an amazing home that we had such a wonderful time n London. Everything went very well and the house was so centrally located we had no problem getting to all the activities in London over the holidays. We all had so much fun... We loved the basket you left and the noodles came in handy when the little ones were looking for something to eat. We all had such a lovely time and really enjoyed your home. Thank you again for making it so inviting.

This house is THE BEST! We love it! We have stayed here twice – this time for 11 weeks. We would not stay anywhere else in London. We will back! It is our London home . . .And thankyou VERY MUCH Pippa (housekeeper). We hope to see you again.
