Experience 1930’s Hollywood glamour in this elegantly decorated home in a 2,000 square foot (185 square meter) Spanish Colonial duplex with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths plus fully equipped office.

LOCATION:

Located in the historically-protected 1930’s neighborhood of South Carthay, this flat near La Cienega and Olympic is just minutes to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles and the 10 freeway. Bounded by Olympic, Pico, La Cienega and Fairfax, South Carthay is close to a great selection of shops, museums, galleries and restaurants.

DESCRIPTION:

This 2 bedroom + 2 bathroom + office flat is located on the top floor of an architecturally-significant, 1936 Spanish duplex. Located on a corner, the second-floor unit is both light and spacious. Original architectural details abound including: beautiful hardwood floors, crown moldings, stained & leaded glass, hand-carved fireplace mantel, beamed ceilings and period tile in the kitchen and baths. Furnishings are both luxurious and stylish. The private, fenced garden is approximately 2,000 square feet and has a table, chairs, chaises and a fountain.

LIVING ROOM:

The generously proportioned living room contains a baby grand piano, a fireplace, an over-sized, down-filled sofa modeled after one designed by Coco Chanel, and a pair of deco-inspired club chairs.

DINING ROOM:

With twelve-inch thick crown moldings, the dining room can easily host a dinner for two to eight people.

BREAKFAST ROOM:

The breakfast room has a table and chairs.

MASTER BEDROOM:

The master bedroom has a king-sized mattress with a headboard made from a New Orleans French Quarter balcony railing. Light and bright during the day with its western exposure, the room can be made cozy and dark by closing the striped, silk drapes which are lined with blackout curtains.

MASTER BATHROOM:

The en suite, spacious master bathroom has a separate bathtub and shower stall each of which has a graceful, tiled entrance.

SECOND BEDROOM:

With the sound of the back yard fountain trickling in through the windows, this bedroom's room’s queen sized bed offers a perfect place to unwind from a day of exploring Los Angeles’ many sights.

SECOND BATHROOM:

The en suite, tiled bathroom has a toilet, shower stall (no bath tub) and pedestal sink.

OFFICE/STUDY:

Perfect for someone visiting Los Angeles for work, a third bedroom is used as an office/study. Complete with desk, wi-fi, printer and scanner, the office provides all you need to effectively work from this home...just bring your computer. The technology closet in this office also contains the broadband internet, wireless router and sound system with speakers throughout the house.

KITCHEN:

The period tile, O’Keefe & Merritt stove and the bright, southern exposure combine to create a charming kitchen that will make you want to cook.

LAUNDRY ROOM:

Full sized, front loading washer and dryer are provided, along with a professional steamer, vacuum, mop and broom.

YARD:

As you go down the back stairs, you will be taken by the large, beautifully landscaped, private back yard. The brick patio, the green lawn and the extensively planted flower beds provide a multitude of ways to enjoy the outdoors. With approximately 2,000 square feet (185 square meters) and anchored by a trickling fountain, you can relax in the sun during the day on the over-sized chaises or dine at night under the stars at the table.

A beautiful and spacious upper floor apartment

We stayed for a week in Devan's elegant and well- furnished apartment set in a nice neighborhood only a couple of miles away from LA's many attractions. On arrival we received a warm and helpful welcome. To achieve a five star rating we would suggest investing in some new pillows and duvets. Recommendations on local restaurants and supermarkets would be helpful, Overall we have no hesitation in recommending this property.

This is a gorgeous and peaceful oasis in LA

This is a beautiful house, with lovely garden, classic furnishings, elegant linens and a fully equipped kitchen. We entertained local friends as if we lived in Los Angeles, and could easily get quickly to various parts of town from this highly desirable central location on the edge of Beverly Hills. The owner was a most gracious and helpful host, offering tips on local restaurants and attractions, and welcoming us in a personal but not intrusive way. We could not recommend this house strongly enough to couples or small families looking for a great getaway spot in the heart of Los Angeles. Great dining room, ample dishes and glassware and a tinkling fountain in the backyard to lull you to sleep at night. Five stars!~

First VRBO experience

We were fortunate to be able to stay a week in Devan's beautiful home. It is the perfect location and he is the perfect host! It is very central and as I am a jogger I also felt extremely safe and comfortable jogging in the area. The layout is fantastic and the backyard so lovely to sit and relax. The ample parking is also a great asset. Everything is as described and we can certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and beautiful home to stay while in L.A. Absolutely Fabulous Experience!

This is an amazing home! It is elegant, well appointed, clean and comfortable. We were visiting our son in LA and spent the holidays here. Some of my favorites include: the view from the living room window; the baby grand piano; the charming kitchen with an O'Keefe and Merritt stove (if you love to cook, you will appreciate this feature!); the extremely comfy beds and nice linens; the vanity and dressing room area; opening windows each day and letting in that SoCal sunshine and fresh air; the very private backyard and the sound of the trickling fountain; the amazing sound system available throughout! So many nice features--you will be spoiled and will miss them when you return home. The owner is so nice and most kind; he will go out of his way to ensure that you have a wonderful experience. He was always available to answer any questions and to offer recommendations for places to eat, shop and visit. I have found a genuine "home away from home" and look forward to returning to this lovely home on my next visit to LA!

A perfect rental

My family spent a delightful week at this amazing home. We often rent homes instead of hotels when we travel and it is a very rare occurrence when the rental in person exceeds the expectations from the photos. This is a beautiful and comfortable home, with every detail and need met to perfection. The furnishings are just lovely; we wished we were entertaining! The living room is huge and elegantly designed. There is a beautiful dining room and a tuned piano, antiques everywhere, wonderful artwork and lots of charm. The beds are very comfortable with bedding and sheets of the highest quality. We felt spoiled! There is a fabulous and private yard with a fountain and flowers - just right for a glass of wine at the end of the day. The house is centrally located - minutes to everything in LA, and the neighbors were helpful and very attentive. There is information waiting on how to do whatever you may want to, from activities to restaurants to take out! We wished we could stay another month to enjoy this wonderful home. We loved every minute we were there.
