This outstanding appartment is actually even better than described. It is very well appointed within a few steps of a really excellent pool, essential in the weather we enjoyed.

The location is really interesting. Santa Maria al Bagno is a mixed community in a lovely sea side location. The centre of the town, around a small sandy bay, is cosy. The sea is clear and clean, the beach well looked after. There are bars and restaurants (very cheap) whi9ch are great places to watch the sun go down.

The town has typical grocers and markets, (again very cheap) who don't speak English but will be really helpful if you don't speak Italian. The area around the appartment is full of classy and expensive properties. The road is quiet, if dusty, though there was some (not very noisy) building work going on at new properties being built nearby. It didn't bother us.

The appartment is in a block of quite new properties built to a good specification. Our neighbours during our stay were civilised and courteous. There were no issues there, apart from some inconsiderate parking- though this was rare.

The appartment is very well appointed. Beds comfortable with roof fans which are very efficient so you won't need the air conditioning very much. The bathroom is fine, the washing machine works well and the kitchen is well appointed. We were able to prepare our meals very conveniently when we were not eating out.

Local shops, as recommended in the owners' notes, were excellent. (In fact the notes were very helpful).

There is a very good quality TV and digital tuner/DVD etc. No complaints there.

Southern Italy, and Puglia in particular, is very good value for money indeed. The location is very convenient for a number of excellent days out if you fancy touring (though the local roads can be a challenge). The recommendations in the information pack are very sound.

We holiday twice a year in properties we rent from owners directly. We could not fault this experience, accommodation or location and this would be a real consideration for a future return.

A fantastic holiday experience: the apartment is clean, well equipped and comfortable for a family with small chlldren or 2-4 adults without kids.

The kitchen has everything required, the garden with table is good for private outside space in evening and for drying clothes during the day. The bbq is useful and fun. The pool is clean and of good size and depth for swimming and for fun with kids (approx 20m in oblique length; 1.2 (ish) m deep throughout.

The town is 5minutes walk downhill to and 10 minutes return leg.

A car is required but driving easy in this part of Italy and local parking in apartment guaranteed at gate. The local supermarket (SuperMacs) is 5 minutes in car immediately next to motorway. The Ryanair flight from Stansted to Brindisi arrives about 10am: if we were organised we would have stopped off at supermarket prior to arrival as we arrived when apartment still being cleaned.

The local beaches are slightly rocky but the water very clean and safe. There is little English spoken locally but locals are friendly and willing to help. As this is an Italian tourist resort the prices are not falsely inflated. (Pizza restaurant approx 7€; wine restaurant similar).

I would thoroughly recommend this apartment: we have rented apartments several times in Italy (Ligurian coast, Tuscan coast, Sicilian coast plus inland). This was a very easy holiday: it lacks somewhat the fashion and glamour of the northern resorts/ Taormina but it is substantially cheaper, the beaches are free and the people are far more laid back.

Finally, dealing with the Fearns has been pleasurable.

Spent the latter 2 weeks of September in this apartment and it was great! The apartment is very nicely furnished with thoughtful amenities like a DVD player, coolbox and picnic equip, hairdryer and a welcome pack with tea and coffee. The pool at the apartment is a great size, and there's lots of seating around it with loungers and tables and chairs. Although you can't see the sea from the apartment itself, it only takes 10 mins to walk down into the town of Santa Maria Al Bagno and there are several good eateries around the Santa Maria's incredibly pretty and sheltered beach. Good for a swim. You definitely need a car to enjoy the area as there's the Porto Selvaggio National Park a short drive away and numerous white sandy beaches which are well worth the journey up and down the coast. All in all a great place to stay, thoroughly recommend!

We have just returned from staying at this luxury apartment in Santa Maria al Bagno and we were very impressed with both the location and accommodation.
Firstly we felt the attention to detail demonstrated a desire by the owners, to ensure their guests had a wonderful stressfree stay. Apart from a small garden by the poolside ( wonderful pool and spa which were rarely used by other guests),we were also offered umbrellas and loungers and a bar-be-que both in the garden as well as by the poolside.
Inside we were supplied with everything needed for those days spent touring around or on the beach- parasol, freezerbag, guidebooks and maps etc.
Even for the teenagers there was a library of DVDs and a games console plus a football and board games.
The beaches in the vicinity were as amazing as our information pack suggested and the owners had even supplied separate maps of nearby supermarkets and restaurants.
Gallipoli nearby is well worth visiting both by day and night and in just over an hour you can reach Alberobello and the famous 'trulli'.We also loved Otranto and Porto Badisco.
However, the true joy of staying in this property is the lack of hoards of tourists everywhere.It is like stepping back in time to an unhurried world where the roads are relatively car-free, car-parks are free on the sea front and prices in restaurants don't leave you shocked. The food is great particularly for fish lovers and the locals are delightful.
When you stay in this apartment you are being offered all modern conveniences, a poolside location with amazing beaches minutes away yet you are still able to enjoy the slow relaxing pace of southern Italian life which is fast disappearing. Thanks again to the owners for introducing us to an area of Italy we have now fallen in love with.

A group of my girlfriends and myself stayed here for the first week of July and weren't dissapointed. The apartment looks exactly as it did in the photos, it was clean, well furnished with everything you'd need on a holiday. There were a few books, games and dvds already in the apartment which we made good use of as well as outdoor seating and your own BBQ. We were lucky enough to have the pool area pretty much to ourselves the whole week and we had no problems with other guests in the appartment block who were all friendly. The appartment is only a few minutes walk from shops and all the locals are very friendly and helpful, no one really speaks english but everyone was always willing to help and point. I would recommend taking the Italian phrases book out when going for dinner as the menus are all Italian. You definitely need a car, there are lovely beaches about 30-45mins drive which I would recommend taking a day trip to, the beaches are perfect for children as most of them are shallow water. I also recommend paying Lecce a visit, it is a lovely town to walk around and do a bit of shopping, plenty of markets, but bear in mind shops in Puglia do close from about 1pm till 4/5pm so best to go early morning or in the evening.

Overall our stay was fantastic, everything we wanted for a quiet getaway from the city. I would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone looking for an authentic coastal Italian break.
