Recently renovated this original old village stone house is located in the quiet village of Malona. The property consists of a large, comfortable, well equipped lounge, plus fitted kitchen and shower room on the ground floor. An internal staircase leads up to a bright and airy bedroom upstairs. Thick, stone walls and tiles floors keep the house cool, although air conditioning has been fitted for added comfort. The Mediterranean style terrace outside the bedroom and surrounded by luscious vines makes a perfect dining area with views across the village and surrounding countryside. A shaded courtyard downstairs provides a welcome retreat from the heat of the day.

The village of Malona is situated on the east coast of Rhodes where many beautiful beaches can be found. As an active traditional agricultural village it is surrounded by orange, manderin and olive groves. With footpaths leading from the village into the surrounding forests and hills the village is ideally located for those interested in walking and experiencing the beautiful surroundings.

There are a number of eateries to be found in Malona and the neighbouring village of Masari. Within the village are several small mini-markets, a chemist and a butchers. The local post office runs from one of the cafes in the square and fresh fruit and fish are sold from vans visiting daily.

Just 5 minutes drive lies the beautiful beach of Agathi, a sheltered beach with aqua blue waters and the port of Haraki which boasts a number of cafeterias, bars and tavernas.

Notes

  • These prices are for a minimum of 1 week. Shorter breaks are available. Please contact us for prices.
    A fold-away camp bed is available for hire at a cost of 15 Euros per week. This would be suitable for a child or small teenager.
    Change over days are usually Wednesday and Saturday, coinciding with flights from the UK, however this is flexible and other days of the week are possible depending on the time of year and availability. Reservations can be held for up to 3 days to allow for the booking of flights. A 20% deposit is required to secure a booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. If booking within 8 weeks of travel the full amount is payable on confirmation of booking.
  • The property can be occupied from 3 pm on the day of arrival, with all guests vacating by 11am on the day of departure. This is necessary to allow for cleaning of the property before the next guests arrive, however this may be flexible with prior arrangements. Car hire and taxis can be booked from the airport. taxi to the property will cost approximately 40 Euros. Directions to the property will be provided upon full payment.
  • All prices include air conditioning and use of electricity. A security bond of 200 Euros is payable with final payment - this will be held by us and returned to you immediately after your holiday providing no damage has occurred. Payments can be made by cheque, bank transfer or debit/credit card (using pay pal). All debit/credit card payments paid through pay pal will incur an administration charge of 4%. Full acknowledgment of payment will be mailed to you

Malona is the perfect station for exploring whole rhodes by car and also a very authentic and quite place far from mass-tourism. The property itself is great and offers everything you need for a self-organised holiday. The owners provided perfect customer service; the communication via e-mail was fast and very friendly. We would recommend this property to friends.

WONDERFUL RELAXING HOLIDAY

We chose this holdiay rental as we wanted a weeks break away without being amongst hoards of tourist. We arrived to a lovely hot sunny day in Rhodes and were pleased to get into an air conditioned house! The propery is lovely and spacious with everything you need. We did not use the down stairs sitting room at all during the week as every evening we sat on the terrace watching the stars! Very romantic! The property was as described and the directions given were needed as it is tucked away down little streets. The house was clean and tidy and looked after. We did not hire a car as we wanted a laid back week so borrowed a couple of bikes which suited us fine when we wanted to get to the beach. No hills!! We also caught the bus a couple of days but be careful if you catch it to Rhodes as there wasn't one to bring us back! It did drop us off on the main road so we prepared ourselves for the walk back (about 1-1/2 miles) but luckily a kind local took pity on the mad tourists walking in the afternoon heat and gave us a lift. There is only one place to eat in the village with was very nice so we tended to have our main meal out at lunch times. The village shop was well stocked and we managed to do all our food shopping there during the week and did not find it too expensive. Rhodes town was lovely especially if you ventured away from the main town and investigated the small streets. There was nothing I did not like about Rhodes or the property and would definitely go again and recommend it to friends. The owners were very pleasant and answered any questions promptly.

Winter Break

We enjoyed our stay in this nice little village house...a little damp to begin with but as this was winter we just put the heating on! The house was clean & well equiped, bed was made & fresh towels ready.
Most holiday lets I have stayed in usually have a folder of nearby attractions aswell as where to find a supermarket either locally or a few miles away. I think this would have been a great help.
Our trip was now in the winter but in the summer places to eat out would also be of help.
Yes I would recommend this house to friends or relatives.
We did not realise that almost everything would be closed for the winter especially places to eat. We enjoyed eating at "Jimmys" in the village 3 times during our stay.

I would thoroughly recommend this quiet little house in the village of Malona. Everything in the desctiption is accurate; and we had excellent customer service. Ian and Jo were always very friendly in their correspondance, and their friends in Malona were available for opening the house and explaining how it all worked, and what is available in the area. The photos and directions to the house were very helpful, and the only worrying part of the journey from the airport was the road works around Faliraki. The house is clean and well maintained; the only thing that could be improved is that the air conditioning is downstairs and we used a fan in the upstairs bedroom. However, it opens onto an upstairs terrace, which is lovely in the evenings.
There are 2 beaches close by and plenty of places to eat and drink without going far from Malona, although it is best to have a car as the main road to Lindos, with buses, is a fairly long walk and the taxis were on strike!
It is also ideally placed for other areas in Rhodes, and Lindos is a short journey away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely think of returning to both the house and Rhodes. It is a most beautiful place.

Christmas in Malonas

I stayed here during Christmas 2010 to escape the chill in Burgundy. The house is simple and comfortable. Parts of Rhodes, especially the coast, are utterly deserted in December, but Malonas has plenty of local life all year and the best oranges I have every tasted. If you are seeking some temperate weather and a quiet winter holiday its a good deal - Ryanair flies direct from London and it's just 100 Euro to get a car for a week.
