Why Owner/Property Manager chose Boothbay Harbor
Arden is a place of respite, leisure, living in the moment, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of Maine and most especially for gathering of family and friends. It is my pleasure to share this with you and fondest hope that it will be for you a magical, energizing, and restorative time surrounded by Maine’s beautiful woods, water, and sky that you will remember and treasure as it always is for me.
We chose the name Arden from the Arden Woods which was the setting for As You like It. Shakespeare compared the Arden Woods with Eden -- a magical place where people are transformed through self-discovery and finding love. For our family and friends Arden has indeed been an apt name. This four-acre land, gardens, and woods feels like a special place. Friendship has been celebrated, children and grandchildren have gathered and played. We have laughed, read, rested, feasted, explored, and spent many hours playing games and talking in winter and summer, in sunshine, fog, rain and snow.
Most especially we have all been embraced and nurtured by the warmth, beauty, and sturdiness of this house.
What makes this house unique
Arden is our family retreat and gathering spot and is filled with our family furniture, photos, and heritage which we have collected and conserved things which have been passed down though multiple generations of our family. We love it here and are nourished by it and have enjoyed many wonderful occasions over the 10 years we have owned and completely rebuilt Arden. We hope you will have similar wonderful memories with your family and friends and get great pleasure, as we do, from being surrounded by nature and the traditional materials and craftsmanship that grounds us and ties us to this place and to one another.
