A vacation for all seasons
Rent this spacious, light, airy 3 bedroom farmhouse apartment in a small hamlet surrounded by forest. There is a large balcony with a magnificent view of the woods and the bog. Located in the Ballons Regional Natural Park, the heart of the Vosges mountains, this lovely hamlet is only 3 km from the picturesque village of Xonrupt-Longemer with a variety of shops. Lake Gerardmer, the largest in the Vosges and its beach is only 6 km away.
The furnished apartment is 93 sq meters (1050 sq ft). The blue room has a double bed 140x200cm. The purple and the green rooms have two single beds each measuring 90 by 200cm. In summer sit out on the large balcony where you can grill and eat at a picnic table. In the winter you can enjoy the warmth of the wood stove.
This is a smoke-free, pet-free apartment.
The main shops are a 3 minute drive (bakery, post office, ATM, butcher, delicatessen, pharmacy, tobacco, newspapers, restaurants, bars, grocery in summertime). And 6 minutes away are supermarkets open year around. There is lovely market with local produce held on Thursday and Saturday mornings. Two cinemas and a casino are only minutes away.
Enjoy the outdoors
Our region is known for its calm and relaxing environment, for walking, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoeing. With over 200 kilometers of trails, this area is ideal for mountain biking and there are bike rentals on site.
From your balcony the view of the bog, the forest and the blue line of the Vosges is sublime in every season. You can observe a wide variety of wildlife. Deer graze at the foot of the house; foxes regularly promenade across the property. In September and October you can hear the bellowing of the stags and watch as they fight during mating season.
In the summer enjoy the grilling and eating in the garden with swings for the children.
A beginner’s ski slope (ideal for youngsters) is less than 3 km away. Much to their delight children can also sled here. Ski slopes are 10 minutes away at Mauselaine and Schlucht. There are Nordic skiing tracks nearby or make your own.
As we are located in a regional park there are well marked hiking tails with varying degrees of difficulty. There is fishing in rivers, lakes and ponds and you can buy daily or weekly permits. In autumn enjoy picking a wide variety of mushrooms (including ceps, chanterelles). June through December pick brimbelles (local blueberries). Or just look at the wide variety of flora and fauna in the mountains and wetlands.
